    Upgrading my 1068

    I am about to upgrade the firmware for the first time. I don't have a serial port on my PC but have a serial to USB adapter. Will this work? I know some people have had problems.

    Alternatively, I could get a RJ45 to USB adapter and forget the Rotel cable. Has anyone tried this?

      I use a USB to serial adapter and it works fine so long as you can set the com port. I'd also lower the inital buad rate as well.

          Just upgraded firmware and software. Couldn't do it via a USB adapter had to take it upstairs to my sons PC.

          I still wonder why, at this stage in the game, serial ports are used by electronic equipment? They should be banned in favour of USB firwire or LAN.

              Has anyone ever tried to connect to the Rotels to update the firmware using a USB to serial adapter? I'm looking to buy a laptop and not all of them come with a serial port anymore which might not be a problem if the converters work properly.

              I just got a new laptop and need to make come changes to my remote. I bought a USB/serial connector/adapter since my laptop only has USB ports but for some reason it cannot connect to my remote?

              Am I supposed to make any additional setting changes?
