I find myself in an awkward situation: I equally love SACD and movie multi-channel surround sound.
The current surround speaker arrangement features directional speakers 3' above ear level - hence SACD recordings with the instruments surrounding my listening position appear to come from a higher, elevated position which is quite bothersome.
2 surround speakers (originally intended for half left and half right surround to add "diffusion") are not yet installed, I'm considering installing those below the current ones at proper SACD ear level position.
Checking through my RSP-1098 user manual, certain inputs can be assigned to trigger Rotel power amps (refer to page # 3, left column, 3rd onscreen display from top).
The current idea is: Assign the RMB-1066 bridged (to power the 3 front Jamos 707, long term power 200 W at nominal 4 Ohms) to 12 V trigger # 1 PLUS an RB-1050 to trigger # 2 for SACD stereo surround to the Multi input.
Other movie multichannel formats would be assigned to the bridged RMB-1066 (trigger # 1) and another, unbridged RMB-1066 (trigger # 3) to the four surround speakers (L, CB1, CB2, R).
Question: Is it possible to assign in the RSP-1098 different power amps (different triggers) to single inputs?
I guess it is impossible to redirect certain channels through the RSP-1098 to certain amps in the RMB-1066, for example (Amp 1 - SL, Amp 2 - CB1, Amp 3 CB2, Amp 4 - SR, Amp 5 - SL for SACD, Amp 6 - SR for SACD)?
(If it is not yet possible, add it to Geoff's wish list!).
Any constructive reply would be highly appreciated.
