After listening to my new Rotel 1072 CD player for the last few hours I must say I'm impressed. I running the 1072 with a 1095/1066 combo, through B&W CDM 9NT's. My local hifi shop was nice enough to let me bring my old CD player (Marantz 4000 OSE changer) in and compare it with a Arcam 72T (the 73 should be in stores soon) and the Rotel. In my opinion both were an improvement over the Marantz. I felt the Marantz had a bit of a harsh sound (sometimes even fatiguing) on certain discs, this was not evident on the Rotel and Arcam. Both had better seperation and more defined bass, howver the Arcam was a little to bright for my taste. This is my first semi hi-fi CD player and so far I think it's a winner.

Really how good is the Rotel RCD-1072 compared to other CD Players that you have come across ,and how does this Rotel 1072 compare directly with the Marantz DV 9600 in direct comparison as I am told the CD performance of even a DVD player such as the above Marantz is better... -
I have read various reviews from america and the UK on the above mentioned players. Many love the rcd 1072 a few dont, but some that don't like the rcd-02 better. Has anyone compared the 1072 directly to the 02?
I am also considering a moded musical hall, want to buy asap to go with my new speakers.... -

The Marantz DV-9600 has a Low rating of 300ps for example so how would you compare both with the Marantz???

Thinking about upgrading my cd, for the moment i have a Marantz 5001 which i use the digital output from and use the RSX 1067:s internal DAC. I was wondering if i would notice any difference, sonic wise, by letting a RCD 1072 do the DA conversion instead? Is the DAC better on the RCD than the RSX?
