    RDV-1060 HDCD support?

    Hi!
I got my first Rotel product last week when I bought the RSX-1065. I know that it supports HDCD, and when I tried one in my current dvd-player (cheap JVC) it had "HDCD" in the display. I'm going to buy the RDV-1060, so my question is this: Do I need a HDCD compatible dvd-player to play HDCD's or will the 1065 do the job anyways? And does the RDV-1060 support HDCD?

    Best regards

No you don't need a HCDC cpmpatible dvd player..

Any player is capable of transmitting the HDCD signal over the digital connection (either coax or toslink). The 1065 supports HDCD, so I suspect that the 1060 DVD player will be able to play HDCD's.

It is just PCM bitstream, and the decoding is done in the DAC of the 1065.

What is the bitstream of a HDCD?

when I load a regular CD in my player, the RSX-1055 display 44,1Khz...

what would it display for a HDCD?

and are the newer "Remastered" (like the Rush CDs) are encoded as HDCD or at 44,1Khz??

and if so, what is good to buy the Remastered if the bitstream is the same as the older one??

        (am I getting this right??)

Hi Tha Freak, check out this site for a list of HDCD titles.

I think remastered just means going back to the original recording and using present day technology to remove noise and artefacts, perhaps a little remixing etc, to improve the sound, much like remastered films for better PQ.

          Hope that helps
          Simon

            RSX-1056 Annoying HDCD Issue
            by eslaudio
My new RSX-1056 has the annoying tendency to cut the first second of HDCDs. This does not happen with standard CDs but seems to be the result of the Rotel taking a second to read the HDCD. My player (Cambridge Audio Azur 640c) is not an HDCD player, and this problem did not happen with my previous...

            Hdcd On Rcc-1055
            by AMPER
Ordered my RCC-1055 a couple of days ago and trying to get my hands around this HDCD thing. This will be my first HDCD player, Went to ms web site and it looks like the big thing is 20 bit instead of 16 bit recording. So this is probably a silly question but is digitally remastered the same thing as...

HDCD titles for new Rotel 1072
            by spkerguy
            Hey everyone,
Very happy with my new 1072 CDP. Although I didn't buy it for the HDCD decoding, I had some questions about HDCDs. Do they still make them? Where can I find available titles? Any good recommendations out there?

            Thanks,

            Ken

            Help with RSX 1065 / RDV 1060 / RB03
            by Snatchfrigit
I have a few problems with my set-up...............
Some of the pixels on the display of the RSX1065 are dull, this is the 3rd display in this unit and they have all gone the same way. Has anyone had the same problem? The RDV1060 sometimes misses a few seconds at the start of a track when playing...
