DVD-A connectionto RSX-1065

Hi there,

I just recently upgraded from an old Onkyo receiver to an RSX-1065 and have a question regarding the connection of a DVD-A player (Pioneer DVD-656A).

I was thinking of connecting the DVD to the receiver with only a digital coax until somebody told me that in order to get the full 5.1 sound I would also need to hook up 5 analog IC's? Is that true?

This is unfortunately true. The SPDIF will give you very good results with DVDs or CDs, but for DVD-A or SACD the 5.1/7.1 input is the only way to go
