    Rb 1080 Channel Out Again

It appears that my 1080 left channel is out once again.
If this is the case after having had the upgrade made by Rotel I will be looking to replace the 1080 with another amp. I just cant be bothered with bringing the thing in and picking it up and knowing that even after a fix the damn thing could go any time.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a good amp roughly the same power as the 1080 that would go well with my rotel preamp, tuner and cd player and B&W 703 speakers?
I would not be adverse to spending more. If my dealer will not swap it out after 8 months are there dealers that will if I were to buy a new amp from them?
Is it better to get rid of the whole system and star over instead of mixing and matching components?

You should seriously consider Earthquake Amps. I had owned the 1080 and the 1095, had the same problems as you, and switched to Earthquake (and Bryston). On a dollar per watt basis, Earthquake is one of the best values and performer out there, and our own JimmyP at NextLevel is an authorized dealer and has excellent prices.

I haven't had a problem yet with the Earthquake and even if I did, the amp is comprised of detachable independent amplification blocks, each with its own power supply circuitry so each block can be individually removed and serviced, without the need to dismantle the entire amplifier!!!

I have heard alot about Bryston. Is there a comparable Bryston amp?
What price point would an equivalent 200wpc be at?

I'd be interested in finding out whether the upgrade was just the fuse or the fuse/resistor/capacitor upgrade. My RB-1080 is currently in for upgrade of the fuse/resistor/capacitor and I have been told by the local distributor that it is a permanent fix to the left channel failure.

Let me know whether it is related to the left channel fuse failure or something else?

          JDH,
I was told that it was the whole upgrade that was done last Oct.
I had posted quite a bit then after talking to Rotel directly about getting the upgrade done.
When I went into my dealer in NYC I thought they would just pop in a new fuse and I could take it home next day.
They told me that an upgrade had been developed involving a larger fuse and some upgraded capacitors. My unit went to MA and came back 2 weeks later and has been great until yesterday.
I was told that this was considered a permanent fix for the channel blowing problem.
I believe this is the opposite channel from last time however.
I can not believe that Rotel would only do the upgrade to one side when the unit was in for repair but perhapos this is the case.

Need Help on New Amp for CT-SSP
            by mfrizzzz
About a year ago, I upgraded from a 10 year-old Lexicon MC-1 to the CCT-SSP and the sonic differences were astounding for both movies and cd listening. The biggest difference I have ever experienced in upgrading a single component in my system. I have Martin Logan Odessey towers in the front, ML Aerius...

Has anyone tried Earthquake cinenovaw/ B&W 803s or similar?
            by stewfoo
I currently run the rotel 1095 in my ht setup with my 803s and htm1s. Would earthquake cinenova be a downgrade? They look like crap. But, I keep hearing about them.

I am just frustrated with my rotel gear in general. It just seems harsh to me. Is the Earthquake cinenova line a good match for 803s and Htm3s??? Is it an upgrade from a rotel 1095 in terms of sound quality? Is it just raw power that the CINENOVA offers?

Hello Guys!! I'm glad to be a new member of this forum.

I'm considering upgrading my system. Right now I've 4 N805 as mains and surrounds and an HTM2 as a center all of them driven by a Denon AVR-4802 (120x7). I was thinking in a Bryston 9B SST amp (120x5) and using the Denon as prepro....
