    Line cord?

I was thinking about upgrading the line cord on my RB-985MKII from the 16AWG to maybe a 14 AWG. Does anyone have any recommendations? And do you really notice a difference with the better line cord?
    Thanks!

A 110 volt 16 AWG power cord is rated at around 13 Amps (1400 watts), a 14 AWG cord at 15 Amps(1650 watts). I'm sure the standard power cable is adequate. I am not a believer in power cable voodoo, and personally can never hear any difference.

I would have the same question: I have a Rotel RX-1052 Stereo Receiver and RCD-1072 cd player. Do I need to upgrade the power cord that came with them? I've read a thread in this forum with many people arguing that power cord is very important in sound quality. Do you agree?

Personally I've never heard any differences between the standard and the "boutique" power cords, but hey that's just me. Some highly motivated people claim to hear a difference, especially after they buy one...

I've heard the small difference when changing a power cord which was the size of a standard lamp cord (unshielded 18awg) to a PS Audio 12awg cord. This was a power souce to the subwoofer in a power tower. Keep in mind PS power cords are impregnated with ferrite which reduces rf signals.

IMO Rotel supplies shielded power cords with their products. Generally I have a cleaner power supply than other areas I know of. Also, less stuff powered on in the house feeding back, etc. also have a power conditioner. I suppose if you didn't have a power conditioner and had a lot of rf signals feeding back into you power supply from appliances, etc. then a power cords with ferrite may benefit you.

I recommend you borrow one very good power from your dealer and perform some a/b tests. Like you said, some people believe they work, other don't.
This is something that you need to sell yourself on.

To be honest, insted of spending an extra $100 to $400 per power cord, invest in some high end speaker cable or interconnects. The difference will be MUCH more than a power cord. :T

            Hi,

I've tried a few power cords. Many made no difference to my ears. One that did (and was a well priced) is the AUDUSA-Eupen GNLM 05/2.5 (CSA 2.5) mains cable from http://www.audusa.com/eupen.htm. Still the only 5 star mains cable in Hi Fi Choice and starts (export price) at 40 pounds (about US $ 70 for a 1m cable.

            Hi Fi Choice Comparison http://www.hifichoice.co.uk/review_l...subcategory=MC

They too have ferite coating on the cable. I now have 5 and found well worthwile cleanup of the sound (especially bass) for my Rotel amps, RCD-1072 and RSP-1098.

              RSX 1065 Power Cord Specs
              by Blues
I bought my 1065 lightly used a number of years ago and have never been comfortable with the power cord. It doesn't fit very well in the power port and has 3 holes on the female end, even though it only needs 2.

Any other 1065 owners out there have similar findings and what guage is your...

Tripp Lite LCR240 input needed as power line conditioner
              by ht_addict
Just curious if anyone could give some feedback on the Tripp Lite LCR2400. It seems to do the same as the Monster AVS2000 but at a fraction of the cost.($375CDN) definitely has the power output to handle a hungry HT. Here's a link.

              Cheap DIY balanced power device
              by ThomasW
We've given alot of bandwidth to big $$, and even bigger $$$$ balanced power units. So I decided to create a budget (can't get any cheaper) DIY balanced power unit. This is one that even Andrew can afford, and that he can build ...........

              Start with a 8"X8"X4" indoor...

              Rotel 1565 power cord issue
              by RoMan
Quick question. What is the best way to secure the power cord in the socket of my Rotel RMB 1565 amp? Everytime I need to move my cabinet the power cord seems to lose contact with the socket and the amp shuts off. I'm finding I need to turn off the amp, and then reach in and push it in to get a good...

              RMB-1095 Won't Power Up
              by Fargo
              Hello,

Went to turn on the RMB-1095 the other day and it would not power up. Normal start-up sequence is for the power indicator to light (blue LED) after the power switch is pushed in. Next, all five channel over-current protection indicators light (red LED) and then after a few seconds...
