Upgrade from Digital Panny to Rotel?

I am fairly new to the joys of a better sounding home setup. My current setup is:

Panasonic XR10
JBL S38II's mains
S-Center
N-24 rears (will be up grading to S36's)
Rocket UFW-10 Sub

I recently received the XR10 and have to say it was a huge huge upgrade from the Kenwood VR-309 that I had prior. With that being said I have to wonder what is the next step up from here. I would like to keep the upgrade under 1K and am not opposed to used equipment.

My initial thoughts from a lot of forum reading is upgrading the XR10 to a Rotel 1056 or 1055.

My primarily listening is music - CD's, DVD-A and DVD Concerts.

I am looking for any suggestions.

Find a dealer that will let you do an in home trial..or one that sells both panasonic and rotel and do an AB listen test between the two. You should hear a difference but only you can decide if that difference is good...and worth the cost to upgrade.
