    RR 969 - Are there defaults to control an RCD 971?

    Hi all-

    I've posted a couple of times to this forum and have gotten some great advice. Now I am in a pickle. You see, I recently bought a Rotel RCD 971 on Audiogon sans the remote. I have an RSX 1065 with an RR 969 remote. I assumed I could use my RR 969 to operate the RCD 971 but I'm not so sure now. I checked Rotels website and it appears as though many of their remotes have 'stored' codes to operate Rotel brand cd players. It doesn't appear the RR 969 has any 'stored' codes to operate cd players. Does anyone know if this is the case? Has anyone operated an RCD 971 without having the RR 969 'learn' from the RCD 971 remote?

      What kind of reliability can I expect from a used RCD 971?? Just curious because I have an opportunity to pick one up for a reasonable price... $285 and in pretty pristine condition.

      Any one have any other suggestions for players around this price point?

      I own this cdp for many years and I'm quite happy with it.
      A friend of mine told me that it can be modded to sound better. I googled for it and found some old threads at diyaudio and also this link (japanese):

      For three years now I use a RDV 1050 for playing DVD and CD ( CD with the analog output). Overall the sound is good.
      For a few months I use an OPPO 971 for playing movies. ( better image)
      So I use the 1050 mainly as a CD player and to watch some DVD music

      I did something dumb and hope somebody out there can help:

      I accidently recorded a command for my cable box on the volume up button of the 969. Now, when the device selection on the 969 is "cable", the volume up button does not raise the volume of the Rotel 1055.
