Consolidating or upgrading Rotel CD players

As my Landlord has decided he is going to sell up I need to move again. This seems like a good time to rationalize my audio gear.

I have RCD975 and a RCD02 CD players and frankly I really need only one. If I sell both I could (almost) get a mint condition 1070 or 1072. If I just sell one I can buy a bunch of CDs.

So I need to ask - given that the 1070 and 02 share the same transport and DAC and I think the 1072 also shares a lot with the 02 - would I *really* notice a worthwhile difference? I would describe my hearing as fine but not outstanding and I listen to Classical music 95% of the time. I do like both my Rotels but cant justify keeping both.

    Cheers

I recently compared the 02 with the 1072 and I found the 1072 sounded better. I bought the 1072 (~200 more) and will never question my decision. For me it was a great addition to my system and has added a sound that I didn't have before.

      Upgrade RCD971 to 1072 or repair 971
      by adinfinitum
      Hi all,

Have seen a few people here over the years have upgraded (?) from RCD971 to 1070, but nowhere are there any conclusions that I can find.

My problem is that my 971 is experiencing the laser faults that seemed to plague some of the Rotel CD players of that vintage....

RCD-1072 vs NAD C542 CD players
      by whmacs
      Hi Guys,
I'm looking to replace my yamaha 396 CD player connected to my RSP-1098 / RMB-1075 / RB-1070 with either a RCD-1072 or NAD C542. This week I brought home a C542 and connnected it via the analogue inputs. The sound left the Yamaha for dead. It was smooth, warm, and very musical with notes...

      RCD-1070 vs RCD-1072?
      by scottv50
What is the difference between these two CD players? If you go to the Rotel website and tell them you are in the US you see the RCD-1072 ande if you tell the website you are not in the US you see the RCD-1070.

      What gives?

Are these actually the same unit with different...

Denon DVD 3910 vs. Rotel RCD 1072 for Redbook CD Performance
      by Turkish1480
Has anyone directly compared these two players for CD performance. I would like a one box solution, but not if the RCD-1072 is far superior in performance. Any help is appreciated.

      Set up:

      RC 1070
RB 1070, maybe upgrading to the RB 1080 (any thoughts?)

Due to a warrenty issue with my 1068 I am left with a 1070 for a loaner. As an enthusiast I certainly see this as a "glass half full" opportunity to live with a new piece of equipment.

I have it hooked up to a 1072 and 1077. I have to admit I am surprised at how much better...
