    RMB-1066 AMP question

In the specs for the RMB-1066 amp, it is listed as 6x60w or 3x150w when bridged.

Does anyone know if you can bridge two and leave one stereo thus creating a 4-channel amp that is 2x150w and 2x60w?

Yes. But if your using the amp to power the front soundstage I would run it at 3x150w. If its being used to power the rears just leave it in stereo mode.

The primary 5 will be driven by a RMB-1095. I am asking about the RMB-1066 as a 4 channel amp to drive channels 6 and 7 at 150w and my zone 2 speakers at 60w.

Honestly for running speakers 6,7 I'd leave it in stereo mode(70w). How much info is going to come out of these speakers to warran 150w? Maybe do it the otherway and run 6,7 @ 60w and you zone 2 speakers at 150w.

Any sound for a split second could require 150w. And at the levels Gregg could hit with his 1095 I would want something a little closer to the same power range.

Another note, 60w for zone 2 speakers is over kill (for the typical zone 2 type speakers), 150w would be crazy.

          Gregg,

Check my sig pic, I'm running the same setup as you are planning to run. 1095 to cdm9s, 1s, and an HTM1, 1066 to Signiture 7's in ceiling at 150w a piece and 60w for three pairs of zone two speakers.

Granted the 1066 has just been sitting in the rack for 6 months as I just finally got my 1nt's to match my 9's and have yet to purchase any of the other speakers. So I can't comment on how it sounds yet, but I would definately go with the bridging for channels 6 & 7.

          Good luck!

Channels 6&7 are B&W CCM65 in-ceilings. Zone 2 is in my home-office and they are a pair of cheapo in-wall speakers I got from Costco. They are for low volume listening. This is why I choose to apportion the power split as 150w for 6/7 and 60w for zone 2.

Does anyone know if it is safe to run the amp as 6x60w with nothing hooked up to two of the channels? I know on certain kinds of amps running them with no load is a no-no.

Shouldn't hurt it at all. Rotel markets it also as a multiroom amp, where you could easily have a situation with no load on 1 or 2 zones.

Amp. To leave the power turned on? Or shut off after use?
                by Marion
I have a mid-80's Harman Kardon HK870 power amplifier, and was wonder if it's best to leave the power to the component on all of the time, or should I shut it down when not in use?

Someone told me it was best to leave the power on, but I'm not so sure.

                Thanks!

Does anyone know how the RMB1066 when BRIDGED will be compared to the 985 mkII? I am thinking of using this amp in this mode to power my L/R/C. Will it be a step down from the 985 mkII? I currently use the 985 to bi-amp my front L and R channels. The Centre is bi-amp between my RSX972 and 985. The rears...

RB985 or RMB1066, which to keep?
                by tearinghairout
                Hi all

A long time ago I bought a RSP970 pre-amp and RB985 5x100 power-amp, which I have used for a while and been pretty happy with.

However the pre-amp didn't do do anything digital or proper 5.1 surround, so I decided to upgrade it. I found on ebay someone who was selling...

                Power Amp decision
                by feng
Hi, My first post here. I am after a power amp for the front speakers. Now I have narrow my choice down to Rotel. For money, I can get RMB1066 which is 60wpc X 6, which can be bridged into 150wpc x 3, or RMB1070 which is 130w x 2 to satisfy my music sense first, then take care of my centerlater on....
