    My 1098 Buzz Story

I had a buzz from the tweeter's on my 5.1 setup- Rotel 1098/1075. The cause of the Buzz was dimmer switches on the same circut as the 1098. But the Buzz was also present when dimmer switches on other circuts were active. Now here is the interesting part. I only get the Buzz when i am using the 1098 for video processsing. Meaning that when I run component cables from the cable box to the 1098, and then from the 1098 to the TV, I get the Buzz. When I run the cables directly to the TV from the cable box, no Buzz. I get the Buzz even through the DVD player and when the cable box is turned off.

    - Any Ideas, how to fix this, Power Conditioner? Dedicated circut?

I'd fix the root of the problem and replace the light dimmer with a higher quality one or better yet move the Rotel gear to a different (dedicated) circuit.

Given that it only occurs when the TV is introduced to the Rotel (through the video cables) you might need to move the TV to a different circuit or in addition to moving to Rotel's circuit.

Ok, my friend has his nice new turnkey Rotel Home Theater system installed with Paradigm Studio 100's. There is a buzz in the system that is being caused by a dimmer switch in the room. Is there a quick and easy way to solve this? Such as, buying a high quality dimmer switch (as opposed to rewiring...

Speaker Buzz From Dimmer - Question

I have speaker buzz coming through the speakers when the lights are on so it's certainly the dimmer like people have suggested.

The thing is - I only get the buzz when I'm watching cable. When playing PS3, or Wii, everything is fine. What kind of things can I isolate from the...

        amplifier hum and dimmer switches
        by gcmarshall
i was wondering if anyone can offer advice on something. i am considering a separate power amp, possibly a rotel RMB-1095. rotel tells me there are reports of a "hum" being amplified by the system when the unit is installed on a circuit that has a dimmer switch on the same circuit.

I'm having a video problem with the RSP1098. I'm trying to figure out whether there is something wrong with the 1098, some incompatibility with my plasma monitor, or some bad mojo in my house. All ideas or experience with similar set-ups would be greatly appreciated.
