Help, how to connect Musical Fidelity X-can and RSX-1056

I just bought a Musical Fidelity X-Can V3 and Senheisser HD650 headphones that seems to be a winner pair, but I have some problems to find the correct conections.

Following the manual I plugged the MFX-Can (line in) to the Tape-Out outputs of the RDX-1056.

As it says in the x-can specifications book "wichever source is selected by your amplifier, it will automatically be routed to the X-Can V3 for headphone listening".

I don't know why but I could't hear anything this way through the headphones, so I tried to redirect the sound manually pressing rec + any of the sources.

This way I can hear the tuner and the TV(Video 1) without problems, but not any of the other sources, so if I want to listen to a DVD or CD(Video 2) I have to turn the TV on. and hear it through the TV source selection.

    My mode/input settings in the 1056 are CD: Stereo/analog, Tuner: Stereo/analog, Tape: Dolby PLII Music/analog, Video1(TV): PCM 2Ch./Coax1, Video2(DVD): Dolby PLII Music/Coax1.

I don't know if this can reveal you something but I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Could you help me?.

    Regards

    Vicente

Could it be that your DVD and CD are only connected digitally (coax or optical) to your 1056 ?
In that case it's possible that the 1056 does not convert digital signals to be presented at it's analog rec outputs.
I'm not 100% sure but I think this is your problem.
You can solve it by connecting your CD and DVD with a normal cinch cable to your 1056 alongside the already existing digital connection.

Regarding the manual selection of the record out signal, can't you set it on "Source" or something like that instead of choosing "TV" or "DVD" ?

You're righ Dr. Boom, but I have an added problem.

My DVD-audio RDV-1060 that has separate analogic outputs for DVD-Audio and CD is being repaired :M , so meanwhile my dealer lent me a RDV-1050 that doesn't have any analog outputs but the ones for the DVD-Audio connections.

If I select rec + multi input (DVD-Audio) it doesn't work at all, so I had to unplug the RCA's from the front L&R multi input channels and plug them into the CD input. Then the headphones worked but not the DVD-Audio.

About the source idea, this morning I selected in the receiver menu record=source but couldn't hear anything thru the headphones. I don't know if this can be made manually.

I expect to receive a new or repaired 1060 in a short time so I hope all my troubles will desapear but until then and for the help of 1050 users if there are any other ideas on how to connect a headphone amplifier it will be great to hear them.

Another question arises me. Will I hear thru the headphones all the channels of the DVD-Audio disks? Will the player convert them to stereo?.

      Thanks for your help.

      Happy New Year to all.

        B&W headphones

I raised this in the thread about B&Ws new product, which turned out to be a sound bar. (insert snore here)

The more I think about it the more I think that B&W is moving away from its traditional market. How many audiophiles would consider a soundbar as their solution, how many...
