RSX-1056 - redirect front mains to centre?

    Hi everyone,
I'm aware that, with the 1056, you can redirect the front channel amplifiers to
power center back speakers or speakers in Zone 2 speakers. But if i'm running a 6.1 setup (ie using the 1056 and an RB1070 to power the front mains ), i assume its impossible to redirect one of the front channel amps on the 1056 to the centre (to bi-amp the centre) and redirect the other front channel amp to perform centre rear duties?

Why would i want to bi-amp the centre speaker? No real reason, but if i can make use of that unused amp in the 1056 i would like to do that. I don't particularly want to run 7.1, as there are no discrete 7.1 soundtracks available yet, plus an extra rear speaker for 7.1 means spending more money...

    Thanks

    Nick

Nope, you can only redirect both to center rear or zone2..

That said, have you listened to PLIIx yet?? You can apply it to any stereo source or even over the rear channels of Dolby Digital and DTS. It does a very impressive job of sending out 7.1 channels..

If you have the room, go with 7.1 over 6.1 any day... DD+PLIIx 7.1 sounds a whole lot better than DD-EX on a 6.1 OR 7.1 system.

I've heard PLIIx on a couple of different amps (Marantz and Yamaha) in both 6.1 and 7.1, and i've found that switching from DD5.1 to PLIIx resulted in a loss of detail coming through the rear speakers. You do get a better 'wrap-around' sound effect with PLIIx, but at the expense of detail, to my ears anyway. Anyone else noticed this?? Maybe rotel gear will be more effective with PLIIx???

          RSX-1056 or RB-976 for fronts

I'm running a RSX-1056 (75W/channel) for 5.1 and have the option to use a RB-976 6-channel (60W/channel) amplifier in bridge mode for 3-channels at 150W/channel for the fronts and redirect the RSX-1056's front amps to drive speakers in another room with Zone 2 material. Alternately, I can let the RSX_1056...

          Hi All,

I posted about this problem a couple of weeks ago but received no responses, so I'll try again.

The problem in a nutshell is:

When you set the 1055 to REDIRECT the front amps to centre back, something unexpected happens:
          (keep in mind that...

          Hello all,
I am new to the forum, but not Rotel. I have owned four pieces over the years. I am looking for a new HT receiver and will probably be getting a Rotel receiver.

I have a question regarding the redirect fxn. I would like to be able to use the front channel amps to...
