    Def-Tech and Bass Management?????

Hello my fellow Rotelmaniacs, I am Victor from Arlington Texas and I am looking for help with some bass management questions:
First what are the advatages or disavatages of using the Sub setting on Max.
I recently upgraded my DVD player for a Denon DVD 2200 that does bass management, so my question is: Can I run both management sources at the same time without causing any kind of conflict? my speaker configuration is as follows:
Mains R and L Definitives Protowers 400s( by the way they have built in powered subs)
Center by Def also running as Small
and my surrounds Defs also running as small
and two Promonitors 200 for the sixth and 7th channel also configured as small.
Can I use the LFE input on the Protowers, I guess this way I can potencially have upto three subs right? so my biggest question is; what would it be my best configuration for the most accurate bass management? last but not least, I'm told that the configuration may have to be different for DVD-A and SACD, is this true?
    your help will be appreciated.

    Itodel,

I have changed the title of this to be more specific so people can see what you are after! I suggest you also post in the General HT area since there are a number of Def-Tech owners there. Indeed if you do a search you will find several threads on this.

Also one ofour members whos web site is http://www.luiscajiga.com/HT.htm
should be able to help - Luis is a serious Def Tech / Rotel user...

What does your entire Def Tech lineup look like? You made reference to your mains but nothing specifically about your center, rears, and sub.

I'd suggest selecting one method for BM, preferably your Rotel unit. BTW, what Rotel units are you running?

There are a variety of ways to connect your Def Techs. Always know that Chet from Def Tech is a phenomenal resource. The best way to do this really is self-experimentation. You can run an LFE to your towers and to your sub but you have to be careful of sub placement, cancelling out phenomena, etc. Some folks (me included) have found that running your LFE to your mains can 'muddy' the sound. Simply run your LFE to your sub and let it do the bass work. You can leave your mains on 'large' but let the sub do what it is supposed to do. Again though, this is variable on your setup and your likes.

Need more info from you to give more definitive answers. Please be as specific as possible.

        Jim

          itodelle,

I have Def Tech BP 7002s for my mains (built in subs), CLR 2500 Center (built In sub), and BP2Xs for my surrounds. I have the Rotel RMB-1095 and use the Denon AVR-3805 for my Pre/Pro. I have a Integra DVD Changer and I turn off bass management on the Integra as I let the 3805 do all the bass management duties.

On the 3805 I have the LFE split from my LFE preout with a "Y" adapter. Each one going to the Left and right front on my 7002s. I set my fronts and center to large and my surrounds to small. I set the LFE crossover at 60Hz.

This seems to work quite well for my setup. Your best bet is to experiment to see which setting you like best.
          Mitch

            Greetings Club,
I am the happy owner of a new RMB-1075 5 channel power amp. Currently I am using a Denon AVR-2805 as my pre/pro and am looking to upgrade to a Rotel component to match the amp.

I have read about a "double bass" problem with the 1066 where in addition...

Hi all. General question regarding bass management and speaker configuration on the RSP 1068. I have 5.1 speaker configuration, with two full range fronts. I configure FRONTS as LARGE and CENTER and SURROUNDS as SMALL (with 100 Hz crossover) in the speaker setup. I then calibrate the system using...

I own a Rotel RSX-1055 in whch I performed the bass/resister fix last year. I use JM Labs Chorus 715 (set at large for fronts) I have JM 706's for rears set at small) and A DefTech TL15+ as the sub. Everything has been calibrated using AVIA.

I've had my setup for just about a year now and I'm amazed I'm just finding this out.

Ever since I bought my Yamaha RX-V2600 and Deftech 7002's I've been disappointed in the 2 channel audio. I have the match center and rears also.

It always sounded hollow and lacking bass....
