    Dynamic Output question.....

While playing with 1068 and its remote the other day, I pressed a two of the four arrow keys and noticed the "Dynamic output" adjustment on the OSD. It allows for changes from MIN to MAX, but what exactly is it adjusting? I haven't had a chance to look at the manual of the 1068 yet, so chime in if you know.

It tones down the dynamic range of the movie. If you are watching a loud action type film late at night and you don't want to shake the house, you can change it from max to mid or min and it will not lower the volume of general stuff like dialogue but will make explosions and sudden loud bass moments a bit tamer. It is a useful feature, play with it and see.

On my Rotel 1560, there are 4 settings for Dynamic Range Control (for Dolby Digital, True HD, etc). Min, Mid, Max, and Auto.

        What does "auto" do??

Max means no dynamic range compression, correct?

I get how dynamic range control works, but aut...

        surrounds for the Dynamic Series
        by aqus
Hi I have built the Dynamic series from Jed a few years back. Which I love. I have my first build I have ever done for surrounds using 6-1/2 woofer from Max pentivent and a tweeter. I didn't have specs on these speakers so I used a simple second order linkwitz-Riley crossover for them.
        I want...

        Huge dynamic ranges on classics

How loud do you play classics?

I am sure many of you have noticed that the dynamic range on hirez recordings (esp sacd) is huge. For example, the series from the San Francisco Michael Tilson Thomas recordings of Mahler symphonies: you have to turn up the volume dial higher than any pop...
