Hey all, new Rotel owner here

I ordered a RMB 1095 today and it should be here by the end of next week. I'm on the other forums (Klipsch, HTSpot, HTForum, etc), and I remember someone mentioning this place for Rotel stuff.

Do you all have any advice to a new Rotel owner? This is my first amp for my system I have bought, so I have never heard a system with anything but a receiver powering it.

    My system consists of...

    Klipsch RF-7 mains
    Klipsch RC-7 center
    Klipsch RF-5 rears
    SVS PB12-Ultra/2 subwoofer
Pioneer Elite VSX-53TX (also used for pre-pro now)
    Mitsubishi WS-65869 Big screen
Harman Kardon PA-5800 (multi room amp, powering Klipsch in walls in bedroom)
    Denon DVD 1600
    Monster Cable HTS 2600

And soon to add the Rotel RMB 1095

I plan to sell the Elite someday and get a Rotel RSP 1066 or 1068, but for now, the Elite has to do the dirty work

Thanks again and I look forward to visiting here more now!!

First of all don't despair if you get the buzzing from all speakers after connecting the amp. All I did to fix it was put a $10 group loop isolator on my CATV line between the wall outlet and my monster hts5100. I got that from my dealer.

I recently upgraded from a Pioneer Elite vsx24tx, so we are kind of in the same boat. I must say that Pioneer Elite receivers are quite nice and in some ways I miss it. But the 1068/1095 combo I have is awesome and I will never look back.

Welcome to the club and I'm sure you'll enjoy your new toy.

Welcome Orange Peel, I too run Rotel/ Klipsch reference. Very hard to beat combo, as other owners of such can attest. I would be surprised if the bug doesn't get you and the Pioneer pre will soon be replaced with a Rotel. Again welcome aboard, and, enjoy........

        Hi Scott

Welcome to Club Rotel, it was me who mentioned you should come over here. You already know me well (JAP)from the Klipsch forum, and we have a similar, but not identical speaker setup. I remember you were one of the first people I spoke with when I was a nubie over there. You were largely responsible for my 1st SVS acquisition and also were helpful when I upgraded to my PB2+. I hope your contributions here can be as prodijous and forthright.

With the 1095 you've really gone into the overkill mode for the RF 7 & 5 series, so we know that you'll never need to upgrade the amp. I'll be here with the rest of the gang when you get ready to purchase a processor. I'll even clue you in then how you may be able to get the Rotel flagship 1098 for not that much more than a 1068. I can tell you right away that you probably won't want a 1066, not enough bass management options to make that PB2 Ultra shine it's best, and the surround steering isn't anywhere near as good as the 1068/1098.

My best advice to you right now is to elicit the help of at least 2 strong friends (or a good hand truck) to help you get that sucker into the house. It's gonna make handling the Ultra seem like childs play...LOL

Sorry i'm too far away help get it into the house (didn't you recently move?) However, please feel free to contact me by PM if you need any advice!

        Warmly

Thanks guys, I can already tell this forum rocks, very friendly and willing to help, I can't wait to get my feet wet with the 1095 and post my review of it, seeing as it is my first experience with an amp

Jerry - Hey dude, yeah you were the one, and you are the one that is largely responsible for my Rotel purchase (that long thread on the Klipsch forum), what comes around goes around I guess, like the SVS I know SVS's, I don't know Rotel, so this is a HUGE learning experience for me. I plan to upgrade to the Rotel processor, I would LOVE that 1098, it's GORGEOUS!!!!!, if I can find it for a steal then I would get it. I can sell my Elite for a good amount of money still, so it wouldn't be a huge debt, but from online (audiogon) that 1098 looks like it's in the $2k+ range, ouch! But that display looks sweet! I see the 1066 for $800 area, but if you say no way, then that's what I will listen to

80lbs isn't that heavy for me I can have my wife help if needed I did move into a new house, no where near FL though, haha

Do you guys have pics of your setup? Thanks again!!!

Mistakes? Who's counting? Great systems? Like your's isn't????? There are many here lurking in the shadows that would die for a 1095 and Ref7s and PB2 Ultra....LOL

Jerry - I just hate being a retard about things like that As for my system, yeah it's real nice, but I'm more envious of the racks that people have, my shitty rack sucks balls, it cost like $300 when I bought it, but it has a slight lean and it's a pile of crap I want a new rack so bad, but the ones I want are SOOOO pricey and I can't justify it right now. I jst hope that 80lb beast of an amp I'm getting doesn't collapse the stupid thing

Think bottom shelf...like an anchor! LOL You'll be surprised how much that will stabilize a weaker rack.

My rack has glass shelves rated at 40lb max and I have my 1075 (35lb) on the bottom so it doesn't have too far to fall...LOL

Getting a good deal on a rack can sometimes be just a matter of chance. Mine is a "Bello" and is metal and glass with wood inserts that just so happen to match the cherry of my RF7s. One day I walked into a local Sound Advice (division of Tweeter) and there it was...$625 list but on sale as a closeout (last one) for $225. That was a no brainer. Just keep looking and one will appear sooner or later.

Why not go DIY on the rack issue ?
You can build a great rack for about €50, one that can support at least 100 lbs per shelf with ease.
All you need are 4 threaded bars (M16 or thicker), a bunch of nuts and washers, and some 22mm MDF boards cut to the right size and with 4 holes in them.
To finish it off add a dab of paint, and you're done.
This is what my end result looks like, and that's an 85 lbs Parasound amp at the bottom.

The rack itself weighs (guessing) somewhere around 50 lbs at least, and when the nuts are tightened it doesn't budge at all, it's just 1 solid piece.
The rack with the TV on it is basically the same deal, but a lot heavier with 38mm MDF shelves and M18 threaded bars instead of M16.
                        That one cost €75.
Even if you don't like the looks that much, you can use it as a temporary solution until you can afford the one you really want, since it's so cheap.

Jerry, I "could" put it on the bottom, but I don't want it to feel shut out or ignored down there I want that right under my receiver showing it's good looks off up top I have been thinking of a DIY rack like DrBoom suggests, just not sure what I want to do. And as for the Bello, yes, a VERY nice rack, I have been lusting over the Bello's at my Ultimate Electronics here in AZ, and they are VERY nice, but you pay for it

DrBoom - Thanks for the suggestion, I could easily do that, I would want it to be pretty tall though, my current rack is just about the same height as my Mits 65" widescreen is, the rack is made by Mits for their big screens. I wonder if a 6ft rack like you built would be stable? I will have to look into that one!!

Orange Peel I've seen several of your posts in the Klipsch forum. I have the reference setup as well and a svs pb2+. The 1095 is a really nice amp. Smooths out the sound quite a bit. You should be quite happy with it.

I just sent my 1098 for repair and am using yami v1400 in the interim. Now after having to be without the 1098, I forgot how much better it sounds. The yami sounds flatter and a lot less open. One thing I really like on the 1098 (probably can do this with the 1066 too) is you can turn on bass doubling using fronts and Subwoofer while dialing back dbs for the sub, so you get a little extra punch when listening to music without it sounding overly bassy...just fuller.

                              Hi,

I'm considering buying a Rotel RMB 1095 power amplifier.
I'm just concerned that I don't have enough free space in my rack to dissipate the heat that the amplifier generates.

I have an open Sonus Elite Rack, on all 4 sides there's plentyu of open space left,...
