    leaving integrated on 24hrs/daily

    Hi There,

I have an x-t100 that I recently bought (old stock demo, very little used). I was told to leave it on 24/7. Is this a good idea or would you recommend powering off when not in use?

    Thanks, Keener

your unit uses low power transistor tubes.
    so does my reference pre-amp.

for low power tubes, average life is around 5000 hours.

of greater impact is how the tube is powered up.
soft-start circuits greatly reduces the wear experienced by tubes at power-up, which is far more detrimental to tube life expectancy.
& note that not all soft-start circuits are created equal……

if it were my piece of equipment i would turn it off when not in use.
this would be in the realization that it will likely take around 30 minutes for the unit to warm up & settle into thermal equilibrium, where it provides optimal audio performance.
i would also consider heat sinks and / or at the V least, vibration dampers.

see the links i provided for more info, if you wish……

        Driver Tubes: Help Me Decide

Hi. I wanted to grab a pair of 6SL7 river tubes for my Cary SLA70A Signature amp. I'm currently using a used/tests strong pair of Sylvania VT 229's from the 40's. These tubes are outstanding but slightly forward although I'm willing to buy another pair they are that good. So my narrowed down choices...
