    RDC-7, 1 month backorder

A few days ago I ordered the RDC-7 from an authorized dealer and today I was told that it's going to take a month for me to get the processor. Apparently the RDC-7 is in high demand... Did you guys have to wait a long time to get your unit?

    Razvan -

Welcome to "Club Integra". Sorry you are going to have to wait so long for your RDC-7, but some say deferred gratification builds character. (Others say it just builds frustration.) :>) When your RDC-7 finally arrives, it will have been worth it!

As for my wait, it was either four months or four minutes, or something in between, depending on how you count it. :>) After reading the preliminary "buzz" about the then-new product, I first auditioned one at my local dealer in early February 2001. He said that being new, they were in short supply and he wasn't willing to budge on price. So although I was very favorably impressed, I decided to think about it, and I took the brochure, got in my car and drove off -- only to encounter an SUV running a red light which tore the front end off my car (less than 15 minutes after my having left the dealer) and sent me to the emergency room taped to an immobilizing board in an ambulance. That traffic incident changed my timetable for getting a pre/pro. :>)

I didn't start looking around at pre/pros again for at least a couple of months. By the time I worked my way back around to the Integra Research dealer, they were having their annual clearance sale and were offering some incredible prices on everything in the store, including the RDC-7. Although I took a one week detour with a competing model that offered more flexible bass management options than the THX standard, but sounded like crap on two channel music, I called the dealer and asked of they still had an RDC-7 in stock and if they would still honor the sale price they had quoted. They said "yes" to both, and I told them I'd be there that weekend come hell or high water to get it. Well, this was Friday, June 7, 2001 and Saturday, June 8, 2001 which was the "flood of the century" in Houston when we got 36 inches of rain in two days. If not "hell", definately "high water". :>) I waited just long enough for the flood waters to subside around my end of town and drove to the dealer and swapped out the other unit for the RDC-7 almost exactly four months from my original audition of it. They wasted no time getting everything ready, doing the paper work -- maybe it took a little more than four minutes, but I didn't have to wait too long -- and I got home before it started raining again. :>)

FWIW, the local dealer here reports a backlog on new orders, too... the RDC-7 is a "hot ticket item" these days. But well worth the wait.

      Burke,

What other preamp(s) did you consider? I myself was on the waiting list for the Outlaw 950 but gave up on it.

You've made me curious: how much did you pay for your RDC-7? I think that I got a good price too but I had to bargain hard for it.

Man, when Burke gets a pre-pro, it's not an event, it's an adventure! LOL. Bummer on the wreck, but glad you were ok after the ER tour. Gee, anything to wait for a sale. Blight and famine next time around Burke?

Goodluck Razvan, and welcome to the forum!

Maybe throw in some pestilence too? :>)

Bryston SP-1, Theta Casanova & Casablanca II, Parasound AVC-2500u, Lexicon MC-1, Meridian (various), B&K Ref 30, Proceed AVP, Anthem AVM-2 and by reputation, the Tag Maclaren AVM-32 (I never had a chance to audition one in person).

I am very pleased that the Integra Research RDC-7 is the one in my system.

I got a very good deal on the RDC-7, since I bought it during my dealer's annual clearance sale. (I am not going to specify the amount online.) I think everyone who buys an RDC-7 should be satisfied that they got a bargain under whatever circumstances they were working under. The unit compares very favorably to competing models with street prices considerably higher than its $4,000 list price, so if you got anything off that price, you got a really good deal, IMO.

            You rang?

Lex, actually we (Houston in general) are gonna ask Burke to not attempt to purchase ANY type of equipment for a while, what with him causing severe flooding and an increase in auto accidents just so he can get new equipment. :

On January 3rd I ordered the RDC-7 from Image Sound and Control in Las Vegas - an Integra authorized dealer. Not knowing that the unit was on backorder I paid for it in full. Three days later the dealer told me that the unit was on backorder but it will be back in stock at Integra by the 4th week of...

Do I buy a RDC7 or something else and if so what?

              I'd decided on a RDC7.1 before learning it's a vapour product!

I'm currently using a Denon 5803A as a preamp but have been told to buy a dedicated preamp/processor with balanced outputs for better performance.
