I have a Ref 30 with the latest software version 2.11 installed. I have it paired with the latest B&K 200.5 series two amp. Both work great and sound wonderful. My primary interest is in listening to two channel stereo music in the direct mode although I sometimes watch movies in 5.1. I have a simple question. Does the Ref 70 actually sound better in the direct two channel mode for music than the Ref 30 that I currently own? I'm not really interested in the new audio formats used for movies. I'm happy with the dolby digital and dts modes my Ref 30 has for movies. Thanks, Don

Sorry so late with a reply but It does sound very good. I never did a side by side but for 2 channel I felt the ref70 hit a level better then ever before. I'm sure now you could find one dirt cheap. Read my thread and you will know what I mean.

Just ordered; should be in by Monday. These are just starting to become available in the US. I've been looking for something with above average performance but not over $2K, unlike my last two DACs, which while quite satisfactory from a performance perspective, are rather pricey for most of my friends....
