Oh my God, are you kidding? The C2 kills about half a dozen other preamps that would kill the Outlaw 5 times over!

Reading all of your replies only got me more pumped! Thats good and bad! I'll keep you up to date, count on it :T Im still laughing @ nicholtl's reply

What led me to this decision was with how fast I fell inlove with the Halo amp. Its sound is oh so sweet, that when I imagined one of the Halo controllers hooked up to it, and the wheels started spinning...

              Fellow C1/C2 Owners,

Over in Club Rotel Spoonman needs some advice re Stereo96, analogue bypass and DACS for connecting his CD player to the C2. See this THIS link.

Would you mind posting an answer here for him.... Thanks

here are my findings using the rotel rcd 1072 cd player... Ill copy from rotel forum...

My cousin and I have been comparing the digital and analog for the past few hours.

I agree word for word with what Dr Boom had said. In the end I prefer the Stereo96... but I found something even better.....

I connected the 1072 to the 7.1 analogs left and right, which is true bypass for the C2, and this is by far the best sound....

so it seems that the 1072's DAC's, to my ears, is the more pleasing/accurate one. The vocals are in your face, with some material this can be annoying, but 80% of the time, it just sounds awesome. The soundstage is massive, no doubt about it. But like Boom said, its less accurate. So its all preference

I did the following connections, Ill list them as #1, sounding the best, and the last one not as good....

#1. 1072 analog outs to 7.1 Analog Ins, Best to my ears

#2. 1072 analog outs to Audio 2 unbalanced RCA's, in Stereo96 mode, very good overall.

#3. 1072, digital coax out AND the 1072 analog outs to audio 2 IN Stereo(not stereo96) sounded EXACTLY the same.

so there you have it. I am using Coballt cables for all tests. I will say this...

this C2 is a killer for movies. Sounds are so natural sounding, and the LFE out indeed gives out a lower, stronger signal.

Time to go play some more

Awaiting the arrival of Dougs Silver coax, I cant imagine movies sounding any better. I watched bits and pieces of Signs lastnight and its a whole new movie with this Halo combo. Every time Mel talks just bellows thru my Def Tech center, something that was not happening with the Outlaw pre/pro.

The more I dive into the C2, the more I love it. I tried messing with the dl'able programs from their site and redoing some of the controllers functions. I was getting a connection error when trying to upload/download the changes. No biggie though, but its something I want to get into come fall/winter, itll give me something to tinker with :T

Yeah, just remember, the whole remote upload/download thing is confusing. It's like..."download" means UPLOAD to the C2, and "upload" means "DOWNLOAD" current info from the C2 to the remote. Kind of backwards, considering it's the remote you're programming, so you'd think download and upload would refer to the remote, not the C2.

                        I'll agree with that!

Also, when I have the remote plugged into my Dell Inspiron lapton via the serial port, I get a lot of timing out when I try to upload (or download...I can't remember) the remote settings to the laptop. Does this happen a lot to everyone else too? It basically prevents me from downloading the data on the remote to the laptop. :M

Timing out? Hmm...that doesn't happen on my old, stupid 400mhz Compaq Presario laptop.

Can I just chime in that I want this software to be compatible with Macs? I have 2 macs and I hate busting out my ancient PC for all this shabaz.

I just started using my Halo Control software, too. Wow! It really adds a whole new level of functionality to the processor. Options that I don't even know what to do with! I've had one or two problems getting my Dell laptop to make a connection through my serial/USB port adapter, but I think it was the adapter, not the software, the laptop, or the Halo. I'm pretty happy with it so far. If I get a minute, I'm going to post much more about the programming.

A friend of mine had a few days left before he had to return his 950 back to Outlaw (he bought the AT Clone and uses an Anthem Pre2L for his 2 channel listening). I thought why not? This is a good chance to try the Outlaw in my system for a couple days. I did a few comparisons the past 2 nights and...

Apparently the Outlaw people are coming out with a new receiver which they will preview at the Home Exhibition show in New York.

Their first receiver sold like gangbusters, and apparently still sells well. I'm wondering what will be included in this new receiver and at what price point....

                              by Tapesh
It may sound a very stupid qs. to knowledgeable people here but to a novice like me it’s a big qs.

Separates are supposed to be better, am I right ?

If that’s correct then don’t you think going with 5 Outlaw mono blocks rather than Rotel-1095 will be a better choice....
