    A51 vs HCA2205

    Hi there

    I have a HCA 2205 and HCA 1500 driving 7 channels on my home cinema. The speakers are M&K S150 series and are rated at 4 ohms.

    Has anyone with the above amp had the opportunity to compare the Halo series (A51) and what were your impressions. Is it worth the upgrade.

          Had a strange thing happen last night to my HCA-2205. I was adjusting the H.F. horn attenuator on an Altec Valencia crossover and a spark zapped between my arm and the horn. Now the 3rd amp channel doesn't work - dead silent output, and the overload LED is lit. Measured the speaker, it's at 4.5 ohms...

          Hi all

          long time since my last visit ops:
          I have been thinking to upgrade my 2 channel
          and use a seperate amp for music.
          So now i´m looking for a new amp and i have been looking at
          the old Hca series 2200mk2 and the Hca 3500 and the new halo series...

          how do they compare with each other?

          the halo is more expensive but:

          has less power
          2205 has independent power supllies for each channel
          1,4 kva power tranformer in A52 Vs 2 Kva power transformer in the 2205

          has anyone heard them both?

          OK, I currently have a 1075 powering my DB1's, but have the chance to upgrade to a 2205.

          Should I upgrade or not? I know that the PMC's will love the upgrade with that extra bit of power that they hunger for, but should I?
