    Upgrade from AVC-2500u

    Hi all

Today i have the Parasound AVC-2500u and Parasound HCA-2205AT
and now i have pondered to change my setup to a newer one.
So i have looked at the Halo series C1 and C2 on audiogon/videogon
for someone who wants to ship it to Sweden.
But i have some questions about how much better did Parasound
made their halo series for the sound and will i notice the change at all,
or should i look for a another brand.
    If i will get one

please give some answers to my qeustions ;x(

Something to ponder: Will you be using the balanced (XLR) inputs/outputs? If not, then you may have better alternatives. F or example Parasound NewClassic 7100 can be had at a lower price, and it has a bit more up-to-date software. Other brands have similar offerings at lower cost.

However, if you can use the balanced I/O, then the C2 is a winner!

My cd is a Mhzs cd88e and i dont think that noone has heard of it but it only
      cost me 70$.

Yes. For instance it has full 7.1 channel support and dolby pro logic. AFAIK both these features are completely missing in the 2500u which is 5.1 only (but can be expanded to 6.1 with an external box).

Apart from the balanced I/O, another advantage with the C2 is that it comes with a microphone and built in automatic calibration. However, you can do the same manually for the 7100 with a sound level meter.

If you don't mind to do the calibration manually, I would suggest the 7100 (assuming that you can get it for less money than the C2. If the C2 is the same price, then I would pick the C2 without hesitation!)

Hiya frasse74, welcome to the Guide and Club Parasound! Peter has some good inputs there.

Agreed, that you'll definitely notice a improvement with audio quality and processing by going to Parasound's newer models. When they put out the Dolby Pro Logic IIx update for the C1/C2, it was well, well worth it. I use it on all my audio and video sources now, to give a fully immersive 7.1 matrixed experience, and won't use my older electronics gear anymore without the DPLIIx processing. If you can go balanced with Halo, you'll be styling!

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Today has i send a pm to a seller in Us
and i hope that he would ship to Sweden
he wanted 2300$ for the C1 and
it only cost 450$ to ship it to me ..
I think that its better still go with great preamps
from Parasound or others then buy new ones who
dosent sound any better or worse in 2-channel..
i dont want to lose the good stereo sound juts for get
the new multisounds from a bluray/hddvd..

$450 sounds too good to be true. The 7100 and C2 usually go for ~$2000 used and ~$3000 new.

My advice: Make absolutely sure that the seller is not trying to scam you!
