    I don't think Brent's back from CES yet. He was going to check with Parasound (and other companies) and report back to us. I had a news report saved somewhere that talked about the JC2, shown at CES, but now I can't find it, dangit. I meant to post it for you guys the other day.

      I'm following CES by press release & blogs. From the Audioholics site, there is a description of Denon separates that models what many of us would like to see in a future Parasound product line. (Heck, we would really like to see these as upgrades, but, being realistic, as future products).

      AVP Processor

      [avp2]The AVP Processor sports virtually all of the features currently found on the AVR-5805CI with some added bonuses including:

      * HDMI 1.3
      * Analog to HDMI Conversion and upscaling to 1080p
      * Realta HQV Processing
      * Dolby TruHD and DTS HD decoding
      * Multi Channel Zone 2 Output for dual surround zones
      * Zone 4 Digital Audio
      * Simply HD Certified silicon image approves connectivity and operability
      * Remote maintenance program
      * Wireless audio streaming with WMA support
      * Balanced inputs

      10 Channel Multi Channel Amplifier

      * Full 10 channel amplifier design
      * Full channel assignment configurability
      * Specified Power: 150wpc x 10 or 300 x 5 (bridgeable)
      * In Bridge mode, the amp is fully stable down to 4 ohm loads
      * Balanced Outputs
      * VU Front Panel Power Meters
      * Handles on back, 20 amp
      * 10CH
      * UL Certified
      * 140lbs

          The processor sounds pretty good. A 10 channel amp, though? What's the point? At MOST, just about anybody can use only 7, and fitting 10 channels all inside one component just can't be good, I think. Why not go at least two components of 5 each, if you need that many?

            They say that you can run 2 independent 5.1 systems or use the other channels for other zones... I think

              My avatar is a picture of active 4-way speakers requiring 8 channels of amplification total. Of course, some would think that's overkill.

                As far as Denon amplifier goes you set it as follows
                3 x 300 W for front right, left and center and
                4 x 150 W for surrounds and rear

                best

                  Doesn't bridging the channels like that double the distortion?

                    This is why there is bridge mode of high quality (I hope) mentioned on the information sheet. I am more excited about P7 analogue multichannel preamplifier, though. I think that this toy gives all multichannel music lovers a lot of fun. One of the set-up I can imagine goes as follows. You use one 7.1 multichannel input for processor (say C2). Processor has its own 7.1 input so you run your HDVD player or BD player through the analogue bypass. You can use Halo to process the other stuff. However for multichannel music, you connect your universal (DVD-A and SACD player) to another 7.1 input in P7. This way you avoid all the digital garbage which always comes from the processor. It really does not matter how good processor is. It is always there and it does not matter that much as far as (relatively) loud movie sound is concerned. However, I think that the fact that we run the music away from all the stuff in the processor makes a lot of difference. Moreover, if you have a separated 2-channel set-up you connect your high-quality DAC to balanced 2-channel input in P7. It should be indeed heaven from the sound point of view

                    best

                        Was there any news as to if Parasound is going to implement HDMI audio for either the Halo or New Classic series?

                        Thanks in advance!
