I don't think Brent's back from CES yet. He was going to check with Parasound (and other companies) and report back to us. I had a news report saved somewhere that talked about the JC2, shown at CES, but now I can't find it, dangit. I meant to post it for you guys the other day.

I'm following CES by press release & blogs. From the Audioholics site, there is a description of Denon separates that models what many of us would like to see in a future Parasound product line. (Heck, we would really like to see these as upgrades, but, being realistic, as future products).

The processor sounds pretty good. A 10 channel amp, though? What's the point? At MOST, just about anybody can use only 7, and fitting 10 channels all inside one component just can't be good, I think. Why not go at least two components of 5 each, if you need that many?

They say that you can run 2 independent 5.1 systems or use the other channels for other zones... I thinkOriginally posted by Chris DThe processor sounds pretty good. A 10 channel amp, though? My avatar is a picture of active 4-way speakers requiring 8 channels of amplification total. Of course, some would think that's overkill.

This is why there is bridge mode of high quality (I hope) mentioned on the information sheet. I am more excited about P7 analogue multichannel preamplifier, though. I think that this toy gives all multichannel music lovers a lot of fun. One of the set-up I can imagine goes as follows. You use one 7.1 multichannel input for processor (say C2). Processor has its own 7.1 input so you run your HDVD player or BD player through the analogue bypass. You can use Halo to process the other stuff. However for multichannel music, you connect your universal (DVD-A and SACD player) to another 7.1 input in P7. This way you avoid all the digital garbage which always comes from the processor. It really does not matter how good processor is. It is always there and it does not matter that much as far as (relatively) loud movie sound is concerned. However, I think that the fact that we run the music away from all the stuff in the processor makes a lot of difference. Moreover, if you have a separated 2-channel set-up you connect your high-quality DAC to balanced 2-channel input in P7. It should be indeed heaven from the sound point of view

by JonMarshOK, this title is a bit presumptuous, but I found the original article/page very interesting, and came upon it only by happenstance in the course of a tangentially related search.

by miglioreWell, here are my opinions on what I saw and heard at the CES this

I'll start off with best 2 ch sound. I think it was a tie between

by Nolan BAnyone here going to CES 2008 and able to report what they see from Rotel? Are you able to ask Rotel questions on behalf of members here?
Also does anyone know why I dont see Rotel on this list?

by JonMarshOK, what I mean by "personal report" is that I'm not going there to try to cover all the things that are happening (impossible!) nor most of the things that might be of interest to audio/video holics at HTGuide (don't have that much spare time). What I will be doing is checking out a few things...-
