Problem with my Halo A52. Need advice..

Hi all, i have a Halo amp. Recently i had an accident and i damaged the faceplate of my amp.



Parasound wanted $100 to fix it, but my dealer can do it for free, the problem is my dealer is in LA and i'm in SF. I reluctant to ship the amp since i don't have the original box. However, my dealer can send me the part so i can change it myself.

Is any of you can give me an advice to change the faceplate? Is it an easy job to do?

This is my first time posting here. This forum has 2 special section of brands i currently have, the parasound and B&W, so its nice to be here.

Outch, doesn´t look too good. Here is a picture I took when I had my A52 opened up, maybe that helps a little.



I can´t recall it for sure, but I guess it is just a few screws and nothing with electronics and cables as long as you are just replacing the right plastic part of the front plate.

If it were me, I'd personally drive it from SF down to LA and back to be fixed. Make a super-long day trip or overnighter out of it, and get some road time and fun in LA while you're at it. Maybe a trip to Disneyland.

It would be fun if i drive down to LA for sure, but my cost to fix this will be significantly much higher (gas/plane ticket, shopping in La, food, clubbing, booze, etc) :P

Yes, it is fairly easy. First you need to unscrew the rackmounts. Then remove the top cover. Finally you remove all screws on the top and bottom that holds the faceplate in place.

Beware that the faceplate consists of 4 parts:
-Faceplate
-Parasound logo (red "P")
-The two plastic side bars

You also have a rack mount. This is a separate (optional) part. Unless you want to try to bend it back to shape, you'll need a new right hand rack mount!

From the picture, it looks like it's only the right hand front panel plastic piece that is damaged (in addition to the severely twisted right hand rack mount). If the silver part of the front panel is not damaged, you could simply replace the plastic piece and the rack mount.

Make sure that you get all the replacement parts you need. If you just ask for the "faceplate", they will most likely just send you the metal plate without the side plastic that is totally broken on your amp. And, remember that you'll probably want to get a new rack mount too. (Unless you simply remove it, since it is optional).

Another thing, is the plasctic bars hold in place by screws?
I'm gonna put this in a rack so forgret the rack mount.

The front panel needs to be removed in order to replace the side bars.

Yes. As far as I can recall, all you need is a regular Philips-head screwdriver. (The exception is the A21/A51/JC1 that needs a hex wrench for the top cover screws).

BTW, when you remove the rackmount, you should eventually put the screws back in, because they are needed to keep the top cover in place.
