    Preamp

    Hi all,

    I've just bought a Primare D30.2 (CDPlayer) and a Parasound Halo A21 (Power amp.). Now I need a nice preamp to go with them 8)

    I already use a Rotel RC-1070, and I don't see getting a P3 as a real upgrade...
    I only care about stereo, not video, surround etc...

    What do you suggest?

      From what I hear the JC2 preamp is coming soon.

          If it would fit your bill, the New Classic pre-amp should be released any day now as well.

          FWIW, the P3 has really received nothing but the best top-notch reviews at all levels of reviewers. I would not discount it in the slightest.

              I demoed the Rotel RC-1070 prior to buying my P3. I thought the Rotel sounded a little thin, piano tonality was slightly sharp, and the noise floor slightly higher than I expected.

              I bought the P3 and have been generally happy with it. I will say that the P3 does not image as well as some other preamplifiers I have heard and demoed, including the Rotel. The soundstage seems ever so slightly constricted.

              Keep in mind that any preamplifier in this price range has some compromises. I thought the P3 provided the best 2-channel preamp bang for the buck under $1k. I simply can't live without a remote, I love the XLR/Direct/Tone Defeat feature of the P3, and it has fewer sonic compromises than other preamplifiers under $1k (to my ears).

                  The P3 has XLR, but it's not trully balanced.
                  Guess the new model, to be released not so soon, is the best shot.

                          I found a good deal on a JVC RX-D302. It seems to have flexible bass management and comes with a wireless PC transmitter to play audio files from my PC. I'm looking for any feedback good or bad.
