C2 software version? Where does it show it?

I finally hooked it up in my system and am getting it dialed in. I read somewhere on here how to tell what version of the software is installed on your unit. I just don't remember where and I have yet to find it on my unit.
Please help. I'm not sure it is one of the newer ones as it does not show PLIIx, but then again I don't have the back speakers turned on so I'm sure it will not show it as an option with my 5.2 setup.
BTW, thanks to Peter Nielsen for helping me out with the mic and such for my unit. They arrived in perfect condition, thanks.

    Randy,

Turn off your C2. Then press the front panel on-button and keep it down for about 2-3 seconds. The C2 will start by displaying the version numbers as it turns on.

If you don't have v6.80, I recommend that you upgrade.

I'm glad to hear that the stuff arrived safely and that you're happy with it!

      What Peter said.

Just to point out, version 6.86 is actually the most current version, if you do choose to upgrade. It fixes one minor rare bug some of us encountered with 6.80.

That's it, Randy. It contains all the data, instructions, and program files you'll need to do the update. In Feb 05 Parasound released an official update that included an option to add a discrete function menu to the MX-700 remote for the Zone control. (instead of just using the Zone toggle button with other buttons) You can perform the update either with or without the Zone remote update.

Just follow the instructions in the download file. I've also got a large discussion thread on the update here in the Club that we talked about for a while. Just do a search.

Thanks, I'm going to give it a shot today. BTW, does it reset all the settings when it's done? In other words, will I lose all my programming/ settings to date?

Yes, the instructions recommend that you backup your settings with the Halo setup software before doing the update, so that you can reload your settings if you want when the update's done.

Of course, I recommend that you periodically update/backup your settings with the Halo Setup software anyway, to keep your system dialed in and give you options should something weird happen and you need to have your settings saved somewhere.

Ideally, though, I'd recommend a brand new level and distance calibration when done with the update to dial in the processor again. You may want to have all your input labels and settings saved, though, so you don't have to start over with those.

It was a success. Only problem I'm seeing is that the setup software for setting up the C2 by laptop does not show the new features. Am I missing something here? I had to set it up via the on screen display. I tried to save my configuration but when I do, it changes the x-over setting back to 80Hz everytime. I have it set at 45Hz. I also want to change the startup message and turnoff message but it's not working. Is there a new version of the setup software I don't have or something?

For all I know, that bug is specific to the C1. Is that correct?

I'd rather not upgrade. As you all know, my first C2 died after doing the software upgrade. My new C2 upgraded fine, but that was a virgin unit with factory settings. (I took it out of the box and did the upgrade before doing anything else). I'm very reluctant to upgrade a configured C2, as I'm afraid it will destroy the unit the very same way as my first C2...

Oh, well. I decided to do like Weird Al, and I "dared to be stupid" and proceded with the upgrade :B
Fortunately, all went well, and my C2 is still fully functional and now at v6.86 level :T

                        Good deal.
Hey, why does the setup software not reflect the changes made in the new upgrade?
X-over settings are still in 10Hz increments, did not see the lip-sync settings......

True, the Halo Setup software doesn't fully reflect all of the new setting options. Some you need to set directly on the unit.

Peter, come to think of it, I don't know if I've heard of any C2 owner having the occasional "main in rear surround" symptom. Maybe it was just C1 people.

In any case, 6.86 is good for all.
