Halo Parasound A21 vs Earthquake Cinenova Grande

    Hi everyone!
A couple years ago, I bought the Cinenova Grande 5 at a great price. I bought the C2 in September. This companation sounds great. I just wonder how the Cinenova compares to the A21 and A51

Hey, art, welcome to the Guide and Club Parasound! I haven't heard of any of our members here trying the Cinenova, but let's see if somebody can reply to that.

      Thanks, Chris.

It looks like Cinenova Grande5/Halo C2 is not a very common set up.
Well, let's just wait and see.

That's the setup I will have as well. I'm an Earthquake dealer and have the same amp.
What is your take on the pairing? What speakers are you running with it? You running the RCA or XLR connections?

          Hi Slayer,

This amp was made in 2000 and does not XLR connections. All are done with RCA. I have been slowly upgrading my system. I started out with an entry level HK AVR65 Receiver, Polk Audio RT 2000P for LR, SC400 for Center and RT 35 for surrond, and RM7500 subwoofer. Later, I replaced the HK AVR 65 with Denon AVR 3805 to get all latest sound formats. As the years goes by, my appertise for high quality sound for music increases, I started to look for more highend equipment, and came across the Cinenova Grande 5. I re-setup my system and used the Denon AVR 3803 as a processor; and used its preouts to send the signals to the Cinenova Grande 5 until this September when I replaced the Denon with Parasound Halo C2. This set up, pairs well with Polk Audio speakers. However, I always wonder if the speaker system is on equate footage with these two pieces? Any future upgrades will have to meet two very important factors-$$$ and WAF. I am pretty sure most of us men always have to deal with these factors, don't we?
Well... My next plan is to ugrade the system from 5.1 to a 7.1. I am thinking of using Parasound A21 for the Stereo set up XLR connection, and use the the Cinenova Grande 5 for suroud sound. Or get another Cinenova Grande 3, but this option leaves an extra amp unused. The speaker system may have to be replaced too. What would be a good macht up for the above setups? What speakers will do well with Parasound Halo? Any info is greatly appreciated. By the way, my music references are Jazz, Clasic ,and clasic Country.

If it means anything I switched from a Krell TAS to the Cinenova. We did DB and sighted testing and preferred the Cinenova and the difference was not small. It was more detailed with a huge and palpable soundstage. It removes a further few layers of veil from the system. It's one of the best kept secrets in high end.

Sssssoooshhh, lets keep it a secret. Bottom line, it's a beast. All the reviews on it are true, it's one of the best multi-channel amps on the market. Their MKV-15 SuperNova Sub is as good or better of a product than their amp is. That is another secret in the audio world.

                Parasound HCA-750A or HCA-1000A vs Halo A23?
                by sikoniko
                Currently I have a cinenova grande 5 amp (300x5) and a Sherwood/Newcastle P-965 pre/pro. I was able to get a great deal on a b&w htm2, which I plan to use in rear setting for 6.1.

My dilemma is that I do not have the power for that back speaker. The speaker is rated at 120w. In evaluating...

Best way to use the C1/C2 for 2ch listening
                by slayer
Not sure if this forum is still active with the Halo C1/C2 being on the old side. I have used my C2 for the last 6 years or so. I posted on another thread that I'm not always happy about my 2ch performance. So I pulled the trigger and bought a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista 21 Tube Dac. My friend made me...

Anyone else still rocking their C1/C2???
                by slayer
All these years later, I am still enjoying this unit. Still no problems!!!
I just recently picked up an Oppo BDP103 and have it connected to my C2 with the 7.1 analog outputs from the Oppo to the Halo. While it only has a global x-over setting, it is still fantastic sounding. It offers me some...

                New 7-Channel Amp Available
                by jimmyp58
Earthquake just released their new 7-channel version of the CineNova Grande series. Already awesome sounds and awesome values for the CineNova Grande 3 and 5, they released the CineNova Grande 7 just a few weeks ago. It has an MSRP ~$5,500 but this amp can be had from authorized dealers for far less...
