Parasound HCA-750A or HCA-1000A vs Halo A23?

    Parasound HCA-750A or HCA-1000A vs Halo A23?

    Currently I have a cinenova grande 5 amp (300x5) and a Sherwood/Newcastle P-965 pre/pro. I was able to get a great deal on a b&w htm2, which I plan to use in rear setting for 6.1.

    My dilemma is that I do not have the power for that back speaker. The speaker is rated at 120w. In evaluating my options for a new amp to power this section, I was looking at the HCA-750A, but came across the Halo A23. The Halo is more than twice the price and actually more than I want to spend right now. I would have to wait an extra month to get the amp probably.

    What I am wondering is, would there be enough of a noticeable difference for a rear speaker to be powered by the halo over the 750A or would it be foolish of my spend the extra money where I could be just as happy with the 750A? Unfortunately, I have no way to demo them, so I would be buying one or the other sight un-heard. Im hoping the familiarity of forum members here can help me come to the right decision.

    addition: I just found the parasound HCA-1000A that is in between the cost of the 2 and is also 125W. Would this be a better option that the 750A? I want quality, but I don't have a lot to spend right now.

      Go with the 750A and save money. The back speaker is only used for effects anyway...

          I agree with Peter. Top notch amplification not essential for an effects only channel. Save the money for another tweak.

              Well, I am just about to buy my second HCA-1500a. I have about $1k set aside for one of my room's amps, and I can't see going to the Halo A23, as it would be a step down. Perhaps to some, not visualy, but sonically, I can't imagine the A23 besting the 1500a, especially with Martin Logan Aerius i's....

              Well, Parasounds Halo series, the A23 to be specific was the finalist in the "power amp of the year under $3000" In THE ABSOLUTE SOUND. That seams pretty good for an amp costing $850...wouldn't cha say???
