800 series owners : what cd/dac are you using?

I am curious to find out what CD/DAC everyone is using with their 800 series (or looking at moving to), I've currently got the PS Audio DirectStream and Transport unit.

I chose this because of glowing reviews and the flexibility of moving away from CD to a digital music platform, but I still needed the easy disc player for WAF.

Recently Esoteric has updated their line of spinners "x" models, which look good too.

Does the Antelope have inbuilt volume control? Or do you have the Classe preamp too?

CP800 like DAC with mac mini like music server with aiff files, the oppo is the CD player but after I have used the CP800 I never come back to the oppo or CD's.

it has an inbuilt volume control and has two analogue inputs as well. I used to have a CP-800 and this sounds loads better, which really surprised me. I don't have the Rubidium clock which as about expensive as the DAC itself.

How does this compare to other DACs in this price range? I know based on reading about your findings that you rate it, just wasn't sure if it was in the context of it being on its own market having 8 channels?

Hi everyone. I've got a few (more) questions about computer based audio. I plan on buying Rotel's new DAC. What would be the best way of playing computer based audio through this DAC. I've heard a lot of people talking about Sonos and NAS. How would that all be set up? Let's say I have an external hard...

Hello everyone. Got a few questions related to using a PC with this DAC, and other related questions. I have a Lenovo W520 4282CS5 ThinkPad. I will more then likely be buying this Rotel DAC. I haven't heard it yet, but it has good reviews, it's in my price range, and I've already got Rotel gear throughout....

This is a repeat of sorts, because I had this setup working years and years ago when I lived in Livermore, for my bedroom system- and now I wanted to set this up again. Of course, you can never go home, and sometimes things quite working... like the iPad 1 I used in it!

It’s an Oppo BDP-95 to be precise, which includes the highly regarded SABRE32 Reference ES9018 DAC from ESS Technology. The BDP-95 uses two ES9018 chips – one for the 7.1-channel output, and another for the dedicated stereo output.

I bought the BDP-95 because I want to get into the...
