I had experience on my CM8. I manage to correct the problem by properly connecting the cables. The cable I am using is XLO, and there is indicator on the cable of the signal flow direction. When I connect it correctly with the flow the hum or hissing sound stop.

"Signal flow direction" was a highly successful marketing campaign by Monster Cable. This is a proven falsehood.

I would suspect that your hum went away through a tighter cable connection when you reconnected your cables. I would check the connectors to see if one of your cables is damaged.

Try replacing each cable to see if one is causing the issue. I would start with the USB cable.

Also check the HDMI connections to make sure each is tight. Those cables are usually heavy and tend to pull on the connector. And, are you using the correct generation HDMI cable?

Sounds like it could be a ground issue. By removing the one cable you eliminating the loop. Or possibly, the cable is bad or simply not interacting properly....hand shake issue.

                  Hi,
like wrote from other members you muss "reclable " your system.
Is sure a "ground problem" for me. Maybe is too your home-electric box that make a "stupid connection"...

Using a Rotle 5 channel amp for only 2 speakers (plan on hooking up 2 more later on).

Getting a hum/noise with 3 channels open, is that the problem?

The pre-amp is Rotel only have the bare minimum of wires hooked up and only one source.....don't know why there is a hum?...

My newly arrived CA-5200 has a hum coming from the unit itself (not through the speakers). It is noticeable at quiet passages during the day and even more noticeable at night when listening to music at low levels.

Is this normal? The sound is originated by the toroidal transformer. My...
