A picture says a thousand words. Ten years old and finally killed by DTS-HD Master Audio. This is the driver from a ASW 2000. Have ordered a replacement from B&W and then it will be as good as new :B

Don't feel bad, the passive driver on my Sunfire came apart late this summer. Subs take a violent beating in today's LFE over-driven movies, heh.Comment

The picture is not super clear, is the white stripe on the top where the rubber surround pulled off the driver? Was it a case of being over driven or had the driver reached its life expectency or a combination of the two. Being from the ASW series it would make it approx 10 years old? As you said, not bad for todays dynamic LFE.

Yes it is a 12 inch driver. Sub is actually about 12 years old so really lasted a long time given the punishment of LFE. Only $200 with shipping for the new driver (bass unit).Originally posted by madmac

Loudspeaker T/S often includes only a single Le value for inductance, however driver motors are usually much more complex than a single coil of wire, so Le on its own is not a very good description of the driver characteristics. An extended impedance model, or “semi-inductance” model can provide additional characterization of the impedance curve for greater accuracy.
