Hard to tell. It is almost a sure bet that it is veneer. If you know or can find out the manufacturer of the speaker, the answer would most likely be found at their web site.

Off hand, I would guess Walnut. But with so many options available in veneers, I could easily be wrong.

I agree - it does look like walnut veneer, but it could easily be something else.

Those are the some of the older 80s B&W 802s.
I recall seeing a few pairs on ebay over the last few months.
Rather "rare" (not as common as black etc) finish.

They were avail in teak, black ash, light oak, walnut and rosewood.

They did indeed come off of Ebay and I couldn't decide if they were walnut or teak. By the way Bill, this is a B&W forum isn't it???!!!

I have started a thread for my In-Khan-Neatos, "On-Khan-Neatos" since they will be on wall versus in, but figured that since this was a veneer question, I would post it in a different thread for all that might be interested and since it is not directly applicable to just my build.

            Walnut Veneer Finishing
            by dsl1
So I built my Statements and I love them. I am going to veneer them this weekend so I ordered some Walnut Flat Cut Premium 10mil paperbacked veneer from Oakwood which I have been told has nice quality stuff.

            Hi Jon,

I have been following your post for a bit and they look beautiful. I have a couple of questions for you:

1.) I have had some luck with veneer using a vaccum press with a single piece of wood in it at a time. The problem with putting a full speaker cabinet in a vaccum...

I have some cabinets being built for me -

Here are a few shots of the speakers...I don't have them in hand yet

Here are some stained samples of the veneer I did today.
