    Looking for Blanking-off plates DM640

I have recently purchased a pair of used DM640s and they are missing the plastic blanking-off plates which seal the ports.

The speakers originally came with two different sized ports and a pair of blanking-off plates. The ports allow you to fine tune the sound, the plates reduce the bass.

I have contacted B&W and they indicated that "Those were what we called blanking plugs and are no longer available". Would appreciate if anyone knows where these can be obtained.

    Thanks

Hi & congrats on your "new" 640's!

What came with mine are the two different tube lengths and then cylindrical shaped foam inserts to act as the blanking off plate that you mention. I'd say to head down to your local craft store and buy a chunk of spongy (very dense) foam and fashion your own.

How are you liking your 640's? I've had mine for 18 years now and I'm just not ready to give them up. Aka - what I'd want to replace them is out of reach right now ($$$).

Thanks for the tip. I have just purchased the DM640's and am waiting before the coast is clear to bring them into the house. Right now they are sitting in my sisters dining room in Toronto. Hopefully they wont be noticed once they're firmly installed in the basement.

Hopefully I will enjoy them as much as you have. I did own a pair of DM630's and have always remembered the musicality of this series. Unfortunately my youngster and her friend made short work of the speakers when they decided to stand on them and toppled the speaker.

        Spike plates/discs (for 802D)
        by JimTW
We'll be spiking the 802Ds and putting the speakers on solid marble floors.
Anyone have any simple and good looking spike PLATES they've used to
rest the spikes on so not to damage the floor. I saw some from sound
anchor but they are not quite as good looking... perferably something...
