i am burning in my new pre amp on my B&W 683's with the tara labs cascade burn in disk. I'd like to leave the system on for a week or so. can i put the boxes over the speakers to reduce the volume? will the sound waves within the box harm the speakers in anyway?

You probably do not need to have high volume when "burning in" equipments. Just leave it on whisper level for 72 hours and you should be all set.Comment

The idea of burning in the speakers is exercising them mechanically, right? I would assume that you would need louder volumes to cause more speaker cone excursion to properly burn them in.Comment

I just came back from looking at tvs at J&R Music in NYC. I was looking for at the Sharp 37 and 42" LCD which are pricey and the salesman suggested looking at plasmas. He said that the Plasma Burn-in issue was largely solved using tech. nology that rotated pixels, put grey bars on the sides... -
I got an hitachi pd1 that has significant burn in. from what i have red, a plasma can NOT be regassed to remove the burned in pixels.
