    HTM1D vs. HTM2D

    Could someone who has actually heard both of these compare the two. Is the 1D a little bit of overkill? I know you could say that about alot of things when it comes to upgrades so i`m ready for those responses.
    I am looking at getting 802D`s and probably going to get the 2D, but just thought i`d ask in case i came across a used one(1D). The physical size alone concerns me, let alone the electronics it would take to run it.

      I replaced my HTM2D with a HTM1D (So I have heard both in the same position). I was never satisfied with the timbre match of the HTM2D (even to my 803D rears). The HTM1D is a near perfect timbre match and has a presence on an equal footing with the 802D's. The HTM1D is a monster and works best sitting on the floor below a screen that is 24" of the floor. If at all possible I would go with 3 802D's but if you have a projection system then the HTM1D is THE way to go.

          William, I don`t have a dedicated theater. It would be fitting into a regular multipurpose( tv, movies, music) system, in a normal living room situation.

              If you can use 3 802D's then that is the best way to go. A 802D is by far the best match for 802Ds. :T Dedicated center speakers are compromises on SQ (even the HTM1D and it costs more to boot).

                  Hi Mal01,

                  I have an HTM1D coming soon (less than 2 weeks I'm told) to replace my HTM2D. Admittedly it is a bit of a gamble but I didn't feel that the HTM2D really matched my 802Ds.

                  Unfortunately, at the same time, my center channel amp (a CA-M400) has gone in for repairs at the same time so any comparisons between the two will be compromised to a certain extent by the several weeks between having an active center channel. I will post when I have had the chance to listen to the HTM1D for a week or so.

                      I would have went with the 802D for the center ...But given my T.V is a 60 inches was just not doable though I did entertain the idea for a while.
