Thanks. I am relieved also. To make the story interesting after I got off the phone with B&W, the dealer calls me with an entire cock and bull story and that he was told by B&W that it will cost about a 500-600$ to get sequential numbers but that B&W would do it!!! I let him finish and then quietly told him that it was just not true and that B&W had already called me directly and put in the system for a new pair to be sent to him to deliver to me obviously at NO extra cost. Then,
I was told two weeks ago that the spikes were backordered... no problem, that is not urgent. He then went on to tell me he called B&W and for all this trouble they will ship the one set of spikes that they found, to me on priority. I went on to tell him that in my conversation with B&W, they were not backordered, in fact they were never ordered for me in their records!! So they are overnighting them to the dealer. So the speakers and spikes will arrive together! Now, I was not trying to be fresh or put him down. For all I know he may have been fed baloney by his B&W contact! But it certainly has set my sensors flying mad. I have written to B&W complaining about this. Anyway,
I hope to get over this when I see them next week and enjoy what I set out to do anyway. Thanks once again,

Congrats on getting the new speakers settled out. I had an issue before and found B&W very accommodating to my concerns. Your consistent inaccuracies told by your dealer however would make me look for another one.
Post some pics when your opening them!~!- Bottom

B&W is a stand-up company. I knew it would turn out this way once B&W themselves got involved . They knew it wasn't right and fixed it.
You gonna love them and a year from now you will be happy you stuck to your Guns.
Congratulations,

I totally agree. Their support was very prompt and efficient. Last couple of days have been irritating with the conflicting information but am glad it is now resolved and I really want to move on and enjoy them. As far as the dealer is concerned I have to have a chat with him. He knows I am not happy about things and he's to loose in the long run if I move to someone else.He seems to be annoyed with B&W also and claims to have spoken to the VP of B&W about this mess. Who knows? I have no reason to believe or not to. What he has not done is apologize about this. Whoever is responsible, he is my direct contact and it's his job to sort out and facilitate the right thing. He obviously did not have my complete confidence and hence I called B&W. I see that as a failure on the dealer's part. Personally I like him and he has spent good time with me during my months of research and I would after this is sorted out go back to him for future buys. A small apology would go a long way.Originally posted by GleneeB&W is a stand-up company. I knew it would turn out this way once B&W themselves got involved . They knew it wasn't right and fixed it.

and that is the biggest isue I'm finding with dealers (not trying to offend anyone), but I just can't trust them and as result my come off to be rude. After spending big amounts of money on things many consider crazy, you would hope that dealers would treat you little better...
ray5... I agree, simple apology would go long way, but we don't even get that :<Sony AT 150" 16x9 screen

Good job ray5.
I would have sent them back no mater what the dealer told you. In a sun lit room I bet it would be quite noticeable. And once you notice, it haunts you every time you look at your speakers. Almost the same as when I had the door of my car repainted. After time it faded differently than the rest of the car.
I wonder if your dealer even called B&W on this? I'm pretty sure the B&W rep's are all well aware of serial matching as part of their training.
Probably something B&W will be contacting your dealer about as well.
Good to hear about the excellent customer service on B&W's part.- Bottom

Thanks.Yes, I am pretty sure of that. What I realize is that he deals with one kind of customers. They are predominantly people who know nothing technically but love and enjoy good sound and so the dealer auditions speakers and when they have liked it they go and instal. When I walked in I knew nothing technically also but the taught myself a lot over 6 months, a lot of it from this forum and guys like you. I had a million questions and made about 5 visits over to his store over 6 months and listened many times. To give an idea, I had started at the 683 series and worked and listened my way up to the 802D. Spending this kind of money I had to make sure that that is the right thing to do and not regret later having spent that money.Originally posted by Ken49rGood job ray5.

He was helpful, could be more but he was. But the transformation came once I swiped the CC. SOmehow I became less important. He knows that I have bought only the fronts and plan to get the rears and sub soon. Anyway, I intend to follow this up directly with B&W and see what pans out.

Excellent news!Originally posted by ray5Just for follow up. Got my 802D's, sequential numbers and perfectly matched!Came with the spikes, which are huge. Thanks for all the help and guidance.
Ray
You did the right thing in pursuing this. Even though it doesn't matter in terms of sound quality, having sequential serial numbers does matter for resale value (and appearance). Even my 703s are sequentially matched, and you can tell by the matching patterns in the veneer.- Bottom

by IndytownGeoff and others,
Can we come up with 5 to 10 amps that would drive 802D and 800D's to that "revelation". Where we can open them up at a high volume and no fatigue; and at low listening levels very detailed and good bass.

by rolskiI've decided to upgrade my N803's to 802D's but I have yet to see any good photos of these speakers in Black Ash. My local dealer does not have every colour on display - they've only the cherry & rosenut - with B&W also being seemingly reticent to post pictures on their website.

by sikonikoWell, I am moving into my new house and most of the place is still in boxes. I did hook up my sherwood and my brand new ref9's to my N802's out in the garage. The room is most likely an acoustical nightmare at the moment, but I will be enclosing it in the coming months/weeks and getting it finished....-

by rompowerHey all!
As the title says... Is it possible to move the 802D without wrapping them in original boxes? :P I'm always nervous about the midrange getting knocked off lol
I'll probably move them in the basement
Thanks for any comment/help/suggestion/arms?...-
