    B&W ASW825 for 100% music use

    Hello all,

I could get this sub for about 800 euros used, and use it purely for music listening. I've got a pair of JBL's high end Ti10k speakers as the main speakers, which are very good but lack the deepest bass. Hence this sub.

So, what are your opinions on this sub as a music-only sub? All it needs to be is tight, fast and punchy - no need for extreme pressures below 25Hz. I could also get a Velodyne SPL-1200R for about the same price, but this B&W sub has a nicer cabinet

So, if anyone owns or has auditioned this sub, I'd love to hear your praises NOW :T (criticism is welcome too, if there's any reason NOT to get this sub )

I have the ASW-855 as well as the ASW-825.I prefer the 825, for music, not for film.

I also have had both the 825 and 855. I thought the 825 was a great sub for the size! I would choose it over the 855 for music also. I thought the 825 packed just about the same punch as the 855 imo and was a bit "cleaner".

It was probably more to do with my room than anything.

Does the 15 inch woofer of 801D has the same performance of a ASW855 sub?

Should be it all depends what you drive the 801D with :T

I have the ASW825 and have a music only system, 2.1 channels. Only issue in using the ASW825 for music depends on what you are using to drive it. It only works with a receiver\processor with a sub out or if you re using a stereo pre/pro you have to do some crazy wiring back and forth, its not designed for a stereo integrated amp :M . It does not have speaker cable connections. only has RCA\coax connections. This subwoofer is great for music it is fast and deep and looks good.

                Upgraded from ASW675 to ASW825
                by texasbwfan
I finally took the plunge! I traded in my ASW675 for an ASW825. As many have stated on this forum, the difference between the two subs is substantial. The 805S / HTM3S / ASW825 combo is simply fantastic. While I don't have the audiophile experience as most contributors on this board...I will share...
