    B&W Speakers wire

    Hi,
I have 805s for my front speakers and I plan to buy SCMS for the Rear.
What speaker wire would you recommend? I heard good thing about the Kimber 8TC but do not know much about Kimber and how well they go with B&Ws. Also, I am thinking about bi-wiring the speakers but do not know if it's worth it.
    Your feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Welcome to the HT Guide Forum :T

I tried the Kimber 8TC with my B&Ws and found the sound very forward and harsh. The cables were removed immediately. Cables in similar price range that are excellent are the Tara Labs RSC Prime 1000 biwire.

Biwiring seems to provide a bit more openness in the highs and mids. But I wouldn't buy an extra set of speaker cables to do it. Just use an internal biwire cable like the Prime 1000.

Cardas Audio is a good choice as well, really depends on the sound you are looking for. I'm running Cardas Neutral Reference single bi-wire, and Cardas NR in XLR from my CAP-2100 to my CDP-102 as well. As the name dictates, it is a very neutral cable...

I have heard the 6 and 7 series on my home system using my Mapleshade Golden Helix cables. They sounded V neutral to my ears. Same basic principal as Anti Wires. IMHO, both are hard to beat for the price.

I am running Cardas Golden Reference bi-wire speaker cables, I recomend thoes as well. If you want to audition a bunch of cables you can always do the Cable Company thing.

It takes about 20 hrs to break in cables so demo used ones. Thats what I like about the Cable Co. is you can demo broken in cables.

I use the Rhapsody cables on my 703 and love them.

I did however change out the spade ends with some rather nice Locking Banana Plugs. I like them better now...

                            Great!

Spades are getting on my nerves as they fall off so easily. Thus, I might change my speaker cable terminators to bananas too.

last step in my upgrade is to get audio grade power supplies. Any ideas!??!

Picture with current power supply -- cant be lower grade than this
                                ...I hate those spades :M

Still, have the less expensive Kimber 4VS for my rear speakers! Those have 6 years of burn in and sound actually really good. When I move to a new apartment, I will probably upgrade those rear cables to Kimber 4CT.

Can you audition gear where you are?

Power cables are like anything in this hobby, you need to try a few for yourself in your system before making a decision. You will get lots of different opinions here and elsewhere. I use 3 Nordost Vishnu myself, but don't take my word for it as they are not cheap. Its been 12 months since I got my first one and I am very happy with what they do in a very revealing system

oooops. You said power supplies not power cables. My wrong. SKIMMING AGAIN

Ok, as mentioned previously, threads with the intent of discussing every cable under the sun are not authorized at HTG. While CAT is sidelines at present, cable discussion policies have not changed. CAT may well be back in the fold soon enough, keep that in mind, and no cross promotion of other web branded products please-

Rotel and Shunyata make power conditioners worth looking into. If you want surge protection as well then the Rotel RLC-1040 might be the answer but make sure it has the power capacity for your setup. I don't know how much current that 60" Pioneer Kuro draws!

I run the speaker wires for my bookshelf speakers through my sub. The crossover is set for 150Hz so the sub handles the lower bass. My question is: If I want to biwire my B&W bookshelfs can I just run the biwire from the sub to the bookshelfs or do I have to run the biwire between the amp and sub...

I'm considering the Kimber Kable 8TC speaker cables to mate with my A51 and Paradigm Studios. What other cables should I consider that synergize well with the A51 and what terminations should I consider? Thanks!

                                                      Hi all,

I have the intention of changing my AV processor from the current Emotiva UMC-1. Below are the gears I have:

                                                      Front - CM8
                                                      Center - CMC
                                                      Surround - Pioneer.
                                                      Amp - Emotiva XPA-5.
                                                      Sub - SVS PC12 NSD.
                                                      BD - Panasonic BD60.
                                                      DAC...

Is there a measured benefit to biwiring?

I biwire because it just seems more efficient but in a blind test I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference. I will continue to do it if for no other reason than for the additonal gauge "benefit" and it's just good fun. But I also don't use extrememly expensive cables and they are also...
