I would want 805D's as well, but I was told that B&W actually put one together and later decided to shelve the speaker as they didn't think there is market demand.Originally posted by wettouNice they look very hip and zen and I am sure they sound terrific,

If you figure the 805S retails for $2,800 a pair, and around 33% more for the diamond tweeter would make the 805D retail for about $3,800 (the 803D is 33% more than the 803S). I'm not sure how much the stands are, but a pair of 805D's along with the stands would bring them in around the price of a single HTM2D that retails for $4,500. This would definitely be worth it to me (B&W, please hear my wish!)- Bottom

B&W will eventually fill the entire 800 series with Diamonds. They will most likely drop a redundant model (either the 804s or 803s). The only exception will be that the wall mounted speakers won't have diamonds.Originally posted by beden1I would want 805D's as well, but I was told that B&W actually put one together and later decided to shelve the speaker as they didn't think there is market demand.

That would be sweet . . . and I feel would make a great compliment to my 803D's, HTM2D, and hopefully soon to arrive SSP-800. I've always been a big supporter of the new CM Series since its inception and the extension to the line will make it a huge hit. Finally, it will get the attention it always deserved especially now that it's available in piano black finish. Awesome!"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today."- Bottom

Is it my eyesight or is that midrange driver in the center speaker smaller than in the other speakers. Essential drivers to keep the same you would think.
I'm sure that is why so few people like the HTM7 with 703.Mac 8gb SSD Audirvana ->Weiss INT202 firewire interface ->Naim DAC & XPS2 DR->Conrad Johnson CT5 & LP70S-> Vivid B1s. Nordost Valhalla cables & resonance management. (Still waiting for Paul Hynes PS:M)

They look like the missing speakers in B&W range, and I love the 3 way center,it's about time they did a 3 way center in the smaller series. Is it just me or do the fst midrange on the CM 9 looks like a 6.5" and not like a 5" as the press release says?
I am looking forward to listen to them.just can't wait- Bottom

You will have to check with B&W in the UK on maple. There is a chance that it will be available there (just a guess on my part). In the 600 Series, there is a light oak finish that is not available in the US that is available elsewhere. I believe the UK is one country that still sells light color woods on speakers. They don't sell in the US.Originally posted by fordsterI was hoping for a smaller centre as even the CMC won't fit in my rack. And why have they dropped the maple?

Since the 700 Series is the oldest current line up, and the CM Series has been expanded, something is bound to happen. All of the technologies in the 700 Series have been surpassed by the 600 Series, CM Series, XT Series, and 800 Series. The 700 Series is staying in the line for now, but I don't think that will last for too long in their current form. I give the 700 Series 6 - 9 months of life before they go away or are replaced.Originally posted by dknightdIt would be interesting to compare the new cm-9 and the 703. Price is about the same. Makes you wonder what might happen to the 700 line . . .

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't a CM speaker a 600 series in evening attire?

No, the 600 Series and CM Series are not the same speakers. The CM Series are closer akin to the 800 Series. The CM1, which was the first model, was developed along side of the 805S and has very similar drivers. The 805S has a better cabinet, better crossover components, better wiring, the tweeter mounted outside the cabinet, etc. All of the rest of the CM Series were developed from the CM1 and the 600 Series are their own design.
The ASW610XP and ASW-10CM are the same outside of the cabinet. The CM has a real wood veneer instead of the vinyl on it's "kissing cousin". Those are the only models that are the same.

If you read the press release you can see that is nothing like the 600 series,It has a different treble and the bass drivers has bigger magnets and is not paper/alu as the 683 got.- Bottom

Hy Mikael,
Agree 100%.they look amazing in the black gloss finish, hope they sound as good as they look!
I have all 800 (center htm2d) but this new center in pianoblack is really amazing.
This new center is easier to incorporate in a rack vs. all center of the series 8 that with tweeters outside the cabinet have some problems in several
(for me ..if do you dont have a dedicate HT room can be a important point..)
Also be able to match the sound design ... and also an all this new series is much less expensive series 8 ...
the match with 80xD is to be tried but this cmc2 can compete with htm3S...

Oooo, I've been out of the loop for awhile, but have been dying for something like the CMC2 to go with my CM7s... but what do I do with my CMC? Perhaps I need some CM1's in the bedroom along with the CMC. This could get costly!Ted

I have a set of QUAD L series in piano black btw.. for HT duty.. they look cool, but after a while i think it gets a big boring.. the wood finishes are timeless in some ways, even though there isint much real about rosenut
