    B&W 804S

    Hi guys,

this is my first thread (just registered) and would like to read your opinions on putting together with my 804S following items:

    Pre: jadis JP 15
    amp: Copland CTA 520
    CD Payer: Esoteric SA 60.

Thanks a lot for your kind attention

    Welcome to the forum

After reading the posts on this site for some time I think you may be lucky to get any comments on those brands (although there could be people lurking here who use the Jadis/Copland/Esoteric gear - or maybe I am just not very observant )

Most of the guys here seem to like Mcintosh, Classssss-aye, or to a lesser extent Krell with their 800s. This is not to say that the gear you are talking about would not be an excellent match.

I myself am very seriously considering trading my Conrad Johnson PV14 pre on the same companies CA200 control amp. I found out recently that the word on the street is true, 804s do like lots of current. I thought my 100w power amp was enough but a recent experience with a 150w integrated showed me how much better they sound when the amp has more grip on the drivers.

If an audition is possible try 2 of those amps (Copland) in bridged mode to see if it works better with the 804s.

I think a tube pre-amp is a good idea. Yes I am thinking of trading mine, but I still like it very much.

Have you tried any other gear with the 804s?

      jadis owners, hi
      by scottielee
i have been dreaming of running multiple jadis tube amps and preamps with 5 b&w signature series speakers. source would be esoteric ux-1.

when i win the lotto, i would also like to run 3 pairs of jadis ja30 amps and 1 pair of ja80 with the b&w model nautilus (seashells).

Amp for 803s or 804s... Mac SS or RB-1080?
      by argomart
I used to own a pair of B&W 703s and drove it with a McIntosh MA6500 solid state amp. It sounded great in a 12 x 12 room (9ft ceilings); more power than I could most of the time.

I had always planned on trading up to the 804s, but through an odd fluke, the dealer allowed me to go...

704/htm7 to 804s/htm3s, what about surrounds?
      by mafoo
I'm likely going to be trading up my 704/HTM7 combo for 804s/HTM3S. My surrounds are currently DS7's, and am wondering what I really have to gain for trading up to SCMS or DS8s. From specs, it looks like bottom end might drop from 80Hz +/-3db to 60Hz +/-3db. The primary of use of my surrounds is for...

Esoteric, buy now or let them go?
      by bvbellomo
I used to post here a few years back, and built a 2 way with Dayton's 7 inch esoteric line. I got into other projects and never finished this to living room quality or made more speakers, but liked the way it sounds. I always intended to build 3 identical speakers, eventually using 2 esoteric drivers...
