    No 602 S4???

How could B&W not update the 602?? From my understanding at the dealership and from other hometheater buddies of mine the 602 was one of there best selling bookshelfs!! I'm a little dissapointed that B&W didn't update the 602's!! The 602's were my first B&W speakers I bought and got me hooked on the company and was kinda hoping to purchase the 602 S4's for my office. Oh well always Paradigm that makes a good bookshelf.

    B&W 685!!

The only difference between the the 602s3 and the 601s3 is the bass driver which is only half an inch bigger in the 602 yet it makes the 602 sound really big compaired to the 601!

The new 685 is as good if not better than the 602! I´m using two pairs of 602s3 as front and rear! Try the 685´s, you can´t go wrong with them! :T

I have N802's now. I just wanted to purchase a set of 602's for the office because they had the imaging of big floorstanders. Yes I know the difference between the 601's and 602's and that extra base driver and much bigger enclosure made a huge difference to my. I just don't think it was smart to no carry over the 602 model that has been around for years.

One of the biggest reasons they didn't replace the DM602S3 directly is size. The sales of the DM602S3 had been slowing down (so had the DM602.5S3) for a couple of years in a row. People purchase more on wall and "lifestyle" type speakers now and the traditional box speakers like the DM602S3 are selling less and less. Most speaker manufactures are trimming down on the number of speakers in that category. I have yet to hear the 685 (I still have a couple pair of DM602S3's in stock and don't have the room or the 685 yet), but from what I understand it's every bit as good if not better than the DM602S3.

What was nice about the 602 is the big enclosure and larger bass driver made it so you didn't need a sub in a small room. Very suprising the bass repsonse the 602's had for there size! The 600 series was suppose to be the entry level line for B&W and now prices have sky rocketed through the roof. They might have priced themselves out of the market..

Until I get the 685 in store I won't know for sure myself, but from what I understand the bass is as good if not better than the DM602S3. Just because it's smaller doesn't mean it can't be better. We'll find out soon enough.

Pricing hasn't gone up much if any at all. Now that there are fewer SKU's, there are fewer price points covered. Since there is no direct replacement for the DM600S3, the line now starts at $450.00 a pair with the 686. It was that way for a long time. The DM600 wasn't in the line up until the Series 3. The 686 and 685 are the same prices as the DM601S3 and DM602S3 were so things didn't go up there. As I said above, time will tell ow the 685 stacks up to the DM602S3. There is no replacement for the DM602.5S3 but the 684 and 683 are the same prices as the DM603S3 and DM604S3 were. The ASW608 is $50.00 cheaper than the ASW600 and the ASW610 is $100.00 less than the ASW650. The ASW610XP is the same price as the ASW675 at $1000.00 The center channels went up $50.00 for the HTM62 and $100.00 for the HTM61, but the HTM61 is now a full three way with an FST midrange. The DS3 is $100.00 more than the DS6S3 was so it matches the HTM61 with the biggest price increase.

Law physics prove the bigger enclosure was needed in order to acheive the SPL that the 602 S3 was able to produce. Time will only tell is right, can't wait to hear them at my dealer.

                Rotel RB-1080 + Rotel 1056 + B&W 602s3's?
                by shah
I just got myself to get a Rotel 1056 receiver. Stepped up from a Yamaha RX-V750 receiver. Heard a Big jump in sound quality. What do you think? Anyway.. I have a couple of questions about adding a 2 channel amp to my Rotel 1056. I had originally thought about adding a Rotel RB-1070 but reading...

                Hello everybody,

I am running a pair of B&W 602s3 speakers as my front pair in a 5.1 setup with a Rotel 1056, B&W rear channels and an M&K MX-125 sub. I've been attempting to tweak the sound for the best possible balance between the sub and the front speakers and have been...
