You are absolutely right,the others look as if a kid with a ruler designed them,the 800s look like a well engineered product.And they are probably one of the more affordable speakers there!

I think the Paradigm S8 are the most affordable there...

The Avalon have to be seen to be admired... I dont know much about the rest. Oh, the Wilson Watt Puppy look great in person, but still have too much resemblance of a garbage can.

quite a few people care about martin logans lol. i'm sure joey does. besides, the sound is more pleasing than B&W's. (that should ruffle a few feathers)

800D sounds like crap.........if you are listening to nails down a blackboard maybe, but for everything else they do sound brilliant.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder obviously but the 800D has a nice organic look with a round head and shoulders- instead of looking like a stack of boxes.

re the awards - I think Kal's comments are interesting. When magazines do car of the year they usually pick a short list then get everyone to drive the contenders before they pick whats best. Just relying on what people have heard will be biased - it creates a bias before you even start and devalues the award.

re MLs sound better - MLs sound nice (I have heard Aeon I and the model that it replaced in a home environment with my own CDs) and I would like to have a pair.......in addition to my similarly priced 804s as I like them just as much but for different reasons (I am referring to sound - looks of both are also close but I prefer the 804 look also - just)

I wasn't commenting on the 800D's, he said "all the other speakers looked retarded" which is a shallow statement. I guess if you never intended for any sound to come out of them it would come down to looks. It wasn't a beauty contest.
