      Interesting info:

The nautilus was designed to be upgradable!
All drivers and crossover can be updated for new technology!

      Here is how it works:
Every driver in the nautilus is messured and compared to the standard and then corrected via the cross-over for any deviation it has, I think it works like an equalizer but I don't really know.

Then if one driver get damage or need to be updated they messure the new driver and made the corresponding filter for the cross-over to be also updated!

The mannual also points that the Nautilus can be updated in drivers and X-over!

Interesting there are no updates after 15 years!

      Imagine a Diamond tweeter on them! :B :B :B

How about charging an admittance fee for all the posters on this thread to come round with their favourite discs for a listening session, might pay for those diamonds!! You could charge another few quid or dollars to take pictures also!!

Aldo, I hate to see this thread not highlighted down the list when I log into this site. You need to keep posting here everyday!! Maybe you have a hard time pulling yourself away from that sweetspot?

What are those Mac - gear you have? Mcd/Mda 1000? If so have you compared it to your Sacd2?

You have a truly great system! Cool with all black speakers.

Those are MC501 Amp for Center channel and (2) MC252 Amps for Sorrounds!

The SACD2 is just amazing, I love it since I open the box, it's the best looking, best sounding most cool device I ever bought!

I was looking a few months ago for the MCD/MDA1000 combo, or a Clearaudio turntable, they are both very expensive... when I ask my wife wich should I buy, she told me:
"Why don't you better buy the Nautilus?"
                  You know my answer!

In the future I will upgrade the amps, I don't know if all Classe or all Mcs, but at the moment I'm very happy with both!
                  Thanks!

                    Aldo,
You are lucky to have only paid $40,000.00 for your prestige. Here in the UK, they cost £35,000.00 which is 35,000.00 GBP = 68,044.83 USD. I find this being so unfair. All of the prices have been confirmed by B&W. I could order a pair from the states and have it shipped back to the UK and still have loads of money to buy amps for them.....
I currently have B&W N800, Esoteric X0-1, Gryphon Sonata Allegro pre and Gryphon REF-1 Mono's.
                    Cheers

PS: Aldo, your system is to die for and what we all dream about. Well done....

I'd like to make you a question: ¿Don't you think you are very close to the rear speakers?

NO! I do not think that!
                        I'm SHURE of it!
The reason for the limited spaces it's called WIFE!

The Left and Right surround speakers are normally about 1mt farther from where they are in the picture, but the 2 back speakers are where they appeared, very close!

There are NO specifications jet, it is only a check list!
Yeah, the list did look odd and thats why I asked. I guess the new website isn't finished because I didn't see any checks beside the list of items displayed under specs. Did you? Do the Nauts have FST drivers either? Maybe my computer operating system isn't compatible with the new B&W website.

hehe... they are DIY sonotubes with a Avalanche 18" XBL^2 drivers running them, with a crown k2 for power, DEQ2496 for EQing, tuned to 12hz. No, I doubt SVS will ever make something like this

Could you give me a few words of the advantages Nautilus compared with 800D. Does the Nautilus are not too outdated compared to the diamond technology.

As you bought your new Nautilus and is what it is still possible to buy new!

That in a few words my question for 2008.

                                                                    Aldo Hello,

I contact you because I want to buy a pair of Nautilus. I saw that you had your Nautilus connected on 4 blocks CA-2200 from Classé Audio. I currently 2 blocks and I would like to add 2 to feed shellfish.

Could you give me a few words of the advantages Nautilus compared with 800D. Does the Nautilus are not too outdated compared to the diamond technology.

As you bought your new Nautilus and is what it is still possible to buy new!

That in a few words my question for 2008.

                                                                    Soon, Frédéric.

                                                                    :T
Yes you can get them new, maybe you will have to wait a year to get them though!
They are a completely different animal to the 800Ds, soundstage is huge, incredible detail and magnificent sound.
Do not worry about the diamond tweeter, you will not missed it.
I just received 4 Classe 400 watts monos to change the current 200 watts stereos amps.
I think that at least the bass and mid drivers need some more power!
I will keep a 200 watts stereo amp for the upper mid and tweeter, lets see...
                                                                    Thanks!

Have you bought your new appartment yet? if not, what size room do you think would be optimum for your setup? Its great to think most people buy a system to fit in their house - you can buy a house to fit your system!

                                                                      Cheers,

I am building it, it will take about a year to finish, my Audio room will be about 3 times the size of my current.
That is why I bought the 400 watts monos because I will need more power to fill the room.
Another problem that I will have is that the ceilings are about 6mts heigh and I have a lot of windows, wood, and concrete so I will need to treat the room heavily!
                                                                      Any suggestions?

A lot of times equipment has to be downgraded due to age. I never buy lower than an 8 and have never been disappointed in any gear that I have bought off of Audiogon.

With the new price bump they are well priced.

A lot of times equipment has to be downgraded due to age. I never buy lower than an 8 and have never been disappointed in any gear that I have bought off of Audiogon.

At $28K, a few more price bumps by B&W and the buyer will be able to sell for more than they paid (ignoring inflation of course).

Im building my system like these:
For the Nautilus (Each): 2 Classe CAM400 mono amps and one Classe CA2200 Stereo amp.
                                                                                        For the HTM1D center a CAM400 mono
                                                                                        And the question is:
I still have 2 Classe CA2200 Stereo amps that I intend to use with the (4) 802Ds sorround speakers.
My dealer offered me he can change those 2 CA2200 for 2 CAM400 without charge if I bought another CAM400pair.

Then I will get the surround speakers to be 400 watts powered!

Do you think it is a good idea, or it is not really necessary?
