i was browsing the audiogon's all out assault section and your system blows them all away ;x(
1) how are you splitting the signal from your pre/pro between all the amps necessary for each nautilus speaker
2) i have never seen a nautilus in real life, i always imagined them to be huge, maybe it is the perspective but in your pictures they don't seem that much bigger than the 802D, what is your impression of their size/bulk compared to the 802D
thanks for your time

Yesterday I did a quick google search on 804/805s and ended up at this B&W only forum, great place to read and learn. Being a B&W fan (saving money for the 804s) I thought I might register myself. After seeing your setup I instantly signed up! ...amazing setup!- Bottom

Question!
I know that what I´m about to ask, could result in me being the most hated person in the history of B&W speakers! SOooo, here goes!!!
I love music, I listen to music at least 3hrs a day, I have PERFECT PITCH, so I can really here and understand music, I´m also a musician, I play Bass, guitar, drums and piano!
I have have 805s for music together with an asw750! I´ve listen to the top B&W models, and I can hear the difference! And I would buy a pair of 803d´s if i had the money! But Paying that much for the snails? Peolpe buy super cars like a Ferrari and yet they can´t really drive! It´s what I call, a penis enlargement! Yet someone with a Nissan skyline or a top of the range porsche who buy such a car because they can drive and not because they have to show off by buying a Ferrari!
My question is, is it because you have money that you buy what you want, or is there really a huge differance from the 800 series to the snails, that it´s really worth buying them? Or?
OK, so I´m guessing all the knives are out!!!- Bottom

The difference between the 800D and a properly set-up pair of Naut. Snails is very noticeable - I find the difference amazing and not that subtle
Not trying to be contrary

Strange they don't use kevlar like the high end (or in fact most) b&w's. I wonder what their thinking was on that. I would love to hear the snails next to the 802d. Since that is not liekly to happen I'm hoping Aldo will come back and tell us what he hears (after spending that much it might be hard to tell us if the change in sound was worth it or not, and, perhaps it does not matter) Stilll I am curious.- Bottom

1.- Thats the X-Over job, each Nautilus came with one X-Over wich splits the signal in four, one for each drivers channel.
2.- The are not very big, what make them look bigger are the tubes on the back, but in genaral the are not bigger than a 800D.- Bottom

Hi, Don't worry you are not going to be hatted for a question that for many makes sence!Originally posted by ac81017I know that what I´m about to ask, could result in me being the most hated person in the history of B&W speakers! SOooo, here goes!!!

I'm an audiophile since I was 12!
I love music, and as you can see I love audio gear!
I'm not going to tell you there is a huge difference between the 800 and the Nautilus, for some maybe the 800 sound better, and thats great, if you are happy with a pair of 805 thats even better!
Just be happy with what you can and want to buy and enjoy the music! :T- Bottom

Do you want me to get a pair for you, or you just want to bother?Originally posted by ejuanpimanWell, its funny Ive contacted two dealers already both saying they have discontinued the snails...
How could they be discontinued if I bought them from B&W, and in the signed manual is stated that they finished them on Dicember 2006!
But if you are shure they are discontinued, why don't you call B&W and ask them to take it out from their webpage as the top of the prestige line! :B- Bottom

Yesterday I finally start to listen to the Nautis!
I start with Al D'Meola John McLaighlin Paco De Lucia SACD and I want to tell you that I get the longest spine chill ever in my life!
WOW!
They shure sound different from the 800's, HUGE soundstage, if I have to describe them in one word I would said "detailed".
The true is that I was a little concerned about the Nautilus for not having the Dimond tweeter, but I was VERY wrong! They are fine without it!
One curious thing is that the speakers need to be extremely toed in and tilted up because they have greater dispersion as the 800's I beleive that's what make the soundstage to be that big!
Where I found the Nauts to be clearly different is in the mids, vocals sound very detailed and sweet, some could qualified them to be too sweet, maybe if you like hard rock these are not the speakers you are looking for!
I have to say, I hear the Madonna Confessions on a dance floor and they rock the house down!
Well returning to good music... Peter Gabril Pays Live Highlight SACD: I hear things that I never did in other speakers, instrument separation is absolutely incredible!
Please be advise that I'm impresed of these speakers sound but you have to concider that I'm thrilled of having those speakers in the house and you will have to wait some time for me to post a FULL NEUTRAL review for these speakers!
I had a pair of 800N for 3 years, I also had the 802D as fronts and they are BOTH extremely, I mean EXTREMELY! good speakers I love the sound of the kevlar mid and I do shure love the Diamond tweeter, for any of you who have any B&W speaker you are all set!
Now I want to tell you that I have a little problem, I get the Nauts at the same time with the 4 Classe amp and the Classe SACD2 so I'm not really shure about what is making the improvement and in wich level!Last edited by Aldo; 19 February 2007, 12:14 Monday.- Bottom
