    B&W for upgrade system 5.1 --> 7.1

    Hi,
    little question,

    I have a B&W703 for front, HTM7 center, CDM7 rear and 750sub.
    Plasma Pioneer 507XD, Rotel RSP1068, RMB1075.

    Upgrade:
    RB1070 or RB1080 for the Main left/right
    and rear back speaker:
    i have see CM1 - 705 - eventuel dipol speakers?

    What do you think?

    I don't know about the CM1 or the 705.

But I can tell you my 703's sound super good on the RB1080....

I think the best upgrade might be getting something from the same line all the way around. If you can get some trade-in money, maybe even going to the 800S series and dipoles in back might end up being better for you in 5.1 than going to 7.1 with mismatched speakers...

I had 7.1 and scaled back to 5.1. I would recommend asking yourself if you really need it first. Maybe spend that money elsewhere in the system?
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

I agree. I would only go 7.1 if my room was gi-normous!

I also cut back from 7.1 to 5.1 but upgraded all the components.

Much better choice in my opinion.

                HT system

                hallo,

right, what do you write is correct, better a top 5.1 as 7.1 not "at the level"

                Component upgrade bevor 7.1
                that ok, but for my i can think a system RPS1068-RMB1075 and RB1080 sure better from RB1070. I don't need 5x200watt (RMB1095)
I think to buy a new DVD (Denon2930-3930 or Pioneer 989avi) : HD or BluRay
is early the have one definition system....

                Speaker 5.1
better new front (ex. 804s - at first) dann change the center too? always B&W (the center B&W serie 8 i find to big!!
                = 5.1 system 804s front left/right - center htm7 --> htm4s? - actually 703 from front to surround plus my sub 750 = better solution as 7.1 with actually speakers + CM1 or 705 ??

The RB1080 or RB1070 i can use for 2 channel stereo music..

                Omar

(my room is 10,5meter long and 6meter breight - the system is in the 6meter
                breight place)

I use the B&W XTC center with my 804 and its sounds pretty good. I found the HTM4S way too big for my needs (I am sure its sounds fantastic).

                      by Ronald_703
Some years ago I chose the B&W703 over the 704, leaving no budget for the rears. For the time being I have used my old Jamo sw300. In my new house I can’t put speakers on the wall, so the time has come for bookshelf speakers on a stand.

                      I’ve got a budget of aprox 800 - 1000 euros...

                      Hi,

do you want to know more about the Dipol or Cardioid speaker?

In our photo story we do explain the acoustical shortcut and the sound waves.

With our experiments we show a new Dipol – Cardioid subwoofer with the efficiency of a normal subwoofer.

                      I everyone.

I currently have 601S3 speakers. I would like to upgrade to either the 685 or CM1 speakers. My local shop is stocking the 685 speakers at £380 and the CM1's at £500.

How much 'better' is the CM1 over the 685? I presume their performance must be similar as...
