    600 series timeline.

I am looking at buying either the 602 or 602.5's this week. Does anyone have a timeline for the 600 series of speakers? I believe the S3's have been out for 4 years or more. Should I hold out for potential S4's? Though I don't know what more they could add after the flowport.

Even if there were S4's coming, I could at least compare them to S3's and see what I like.

I am a Mac geek, which is why I am asking this question. For those not familiar, Apple tends to upgrade their products with no forewarning. So that laptop you bought last week is now faster, brighter, and has more memory for the same price.

Also, this will be my first B&W purchase. So be gentle. I've wanted them for 10 years, every since I heard them at Audio Exchange.

Considering they have updated all other series the 600's should be next in line, or maybe 300's. I would wait, I had just purchased an entire Natuilus 5.1 setup when they introduced the Diamonds and that was not too fun.

I found out a little info.

States that 600 series 2 came out in 1999. Then states that the 600 series 3 came out two years later in 2001. So i'd say the 600 series is long overdue for an upgrade. Though I don't know what that upgrade would be.

Maybe i'll call B&W and see, couldn't hurt.

I called and they said they aren't aware of a new version in the coming months. She also stated that when a new product comes out, they don't really announce it ahead of time.

        So...

Damn my impatience. I want to just go audition and get some 602's today.

          And finally...

I got an e-mail back from B&W stating:

Thank you for your interest in B&W! At this time, I am not aware of any plans to change or replace the current 600 S3 line.

          Best Regards,

          Michael Sheehan

Guess that helps a little, I don't know if I want to hold off. What upgrades could they add to the 600 while keeping it at the same price?

Just buy used, then you wont feel as bad when the new line comes out.

I've been looking actually. I can't seem to find any from even a remotely trustworthy source. I did recently stumble onto audiogon.com though, good stuff.

If you are ready to buy, then buy. Even if they do come out with something new, you'll have enjoyed what you have. Who knows if/when they come out with a new version you may not like it as much. In my mind waiting for the next latest greatest thing makes no sense (even though I have been burned by apple in the past - more than once). I wouldn't worry about it - if the speakers sound good to you, they will not suddenly sound worse when the next generation comes out. Just do it.

I guess another concern about that is matching future add on's. If I want to add surrounds and a center channel, I'll almost have to get used equipment. I don't really have a problem buying used, but it depends on the supply and the seller.

As title says, is the Emotiva UMC-1 & XPA-5 a good match for 600/CM series speakers for the price?
I have a Pioneer VSX-LX52, it was around $1,899AUD MSRP and considering upgrading to the Emotiva gear above, which will cost a similar price.

Which 600 series better matches the Nautilus 800 series?
                      by audioqueso
I'm currently using a pair of 600 S3 speakers as temporary rears for watching HT. I am thinking about getting a pair of DS6/DS3 to wall mount, but I can't compare which series, S3 or S4, matches the Nautilus series better. I would like to know which series of 600 series speakers would be a better...

Well I guess I going to have to head something up on these speakers. The lack of reviews, and information on these speakers is amazing especially when they are such good speakers. I did a search for "FPM" on this site and many other and came up with almost nothing (absolutely nothing on this...

M-1s as rears in 600 series setup?
                      by P1et
My wife and I just moved into a new home and the living room is a bit smaller than our last house. I currently have an LCR60, two 602 S3s and a ASW 625. No rears yet. I was thinking a pair of M-1s. I am not sure if I have room for 600 S3s or 601 S3s.

                      Thoughts?
