I hope to upgrade my 801 MATRIX S-3'S, with either the nautilus or diamond 801's this year.

Sikoniko, the Classe 3200 is high on my list of considerations. I've been looking forward to the Stereophile review of this amp, which I believe will be published in the February edition.

Upgraded my speakers (803D and HTM2D) and projector (HD10K) last year. This year is amp and pre-amp time.

Same here. I am telling myself I will wait until the review to pull the trigger. More likely until after taxes are back. I don't really care what Kal's opinion is, as i love the classe stuff, and it will not keep me from buying the amp, but I just want to hold off for now and recover from christmas and the ssp600/ cdp100 I bought last month.

Purchase a pair of 703's (tomorrow as soon as my dealer opens the doors) and at the same time get my speaker cables biwired.

As little as possible. But I think this might be the year of the subwoofer. One for the office, two for the main system. We'll see. I'd like to take the family on a nice vacation, and not sure I can afford to do both . . .

Hopefully a new Rotel SSP that has HDMI 1.3 and can decode the next gen sound formats. A Rotel HD DVD/DVD A player would be nice to.

Sikoniko, I can't imagine Kal would have anything negative to say about that amp. Classe amps are a top shelf all the way.

Wow, the SSP-600, how do you like it?

Hi all, first post - long time lurker.

Tomorrow my dealer will bring a cap-2100 and cdp-100 for a demo to drive my B&W 804S.
I already listened at my dealer and was quite impressed.
Only problem remains the price, hopefully we can work something out if the demo is successful.

                        greetings from Amsterdam.

Let me start by giving you an evolution of my receiver/pre-pro to qualify my statement:

                                Yamaha 992
                                Rotel 1055
                                Sherwood P965
                                Bryston SP2

I have heard many others but those are the ones I have owned.

None of them come close to the musicallity of the SSP-600. The classe has all of the detail of the bryston, but more warmth, smoothness, depth and soundstage. I was concerned about buying the classe pre because of its lack of upgrade-ability, but I decided to take the plunge anyways, as I love the classe sound, and they just look so darn good.

This is the first time I can actually sit in one spot for more than 15 minutes without getting anxious or fatigued. When I listen to music through the 2 ch bypass (balanced) my heart begins to race. I sit back and just enjoy music from front to back. Last weekend I got the Beatles Love CD. I recommend it highly. It is amazing. I plan to get the amp ASAP. I could do it now, but I really need to wait for some personal reasons. I keep wondering what I am missing. We are going to carpet the room late this month, while its on sale, and I might not be able to wait much longer after that.
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

The musicallity and warmth is what I'm looking for. I first understood smoothness when I upgraded my Rotel amp to Proceed. Now my system need a touch of warmth.

I to have been looking towards a Classe HT pre. I'm please to hear the Classe bested the Bryston, especially in the two areas I'm looking to better. The Bryston unit you mention is very good from what others have said.

I'll be looking for a set of used CDM 1NTs to be used as surrounds for a 7.1 system. I'll also be looking to pick up(likely used) a Rotel 1080 amp to drive the front speakers. I've already got a Rotel 1075 that will is used now to drive all 5 speakers but will then switch duties to drive the surrounds and center.

I'm still here, Kobus Hope that you are enjoying your 802D's. Been eating too many Woolworth's chocolates (think "Fresh Cream Liqueurs"). Will have to slow down on the sugar intake.

For me, this year ... hoping to do a complete computer upgrade (new cpu, gpu & wide-screen monitor) + bits and pieces of hi-fi stuff. Bought a length of blue rope-lights for underseat lighting (inspired by Race Car Driver's setup). Also want to spend more time on software (cd's, dvd's & other type of discs).

Also on my mind - though nothing planned yet:

                                          - a dedicated cd player
                                          - a high-definition player of some sort (Blu-ray/HD-DVD)

In this order of purchase this year:

Room treatments: 6 4'x4' acoustic panels and 2 bass traps.
Another Salamander Synergy Media cabinet. The first one I have has already run out of room.
SDI mod my Meridian 598DP and purchase most likely a DVDO VP50.
Sound Anchor shorty stands for my N804 rear surrounds.
Possibly upgrade my rear surround amp from a Carver TFM-25 to a Bryston 4B-SST.
Equi=Tech 1.5BQ isolation balanced transformer for the dedicated circuit I'm using to power my subs.

The Sound Anchor stands might bump the SDI mod/VP50 purchase...depends on how much spare cash I have around. I'm still see-sawing aon the upgrading the Carver to a Bryston. I can see doing the Equi=Tech before the amp upgrade. But who knows....just thinking out loud for the moment.

Trying to decide on a used pair of N803 vs a new pair of 804S. I will match a HTM3S with whatever I choose. For the rear speakers I have not decided, but probably a pair of 805S or SCMS.

I had the sound anchor stands for my N804's. It made a big improvement on depth and soundstage. You will be happy. I will eventually buy them for my N802's, Im just a little concerned it may raise them too high.

I just made my first purchase for the new year. A new bedroom TV. A Sony LCD for the bedroom. I compared it side by side to the XBR2 in 32 in size and the extra $400 didn't justify itself to me. My eyes arent that good, its my ears that are finicky...

I wanted to buy the new 40in V2500, but I couldn't justify the cost for my bedroom. Plus it would upset me to have 1080p in the BR and not in the theater/media room. I need to focus on the new amp!

I wanted to buy an off brand for almost $500, but I just couldn't do it. I was too concerned that you get what you pay for. My boss got a couple for one of our offices and the picture quality is terrible...
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

Yeah, I have the tall version of the stand for the N804s I have for my front mains. Don't know why they seem to have dropped the tall version from their product catalog. I'm getting the rear stands primary for stability as having the N804s on the stock spikes leaves a lot to be desired for knock over safety. It's happened once already fortunately nothing real bad or glaringly obvious that the speaker has been down. The sonic improvements will just be a bonus.

I've been down sizing my system and have had no regrets (so far) in doing so. I've gone from floorstanding speakers (they were not B&W), to the 805S and the B&W dedicated stands. I really like these speakers for what they do. Yesterday I ordered the Classe CAP-2100, largely from what I've read in these forums. (plus I like the way it looks). Can't wait for it to arrive! I also might try to do some room treatments in '07.

Sikoniko, it's a funny little hobby we have. When it comes right down to it, $400 is nothing when compared to the expense of our hobby. When I'm faced with a purchase of a non audio related item and before the purchase, I think of what audio items I could purchase instead.
