Cd Player for B&W (cheaper version)

Im looking for an audiophile grade cd player.
Yes I know there is another thread for Cd Player but I am looking for something around $300. My system is two N804s on a Panache with Transparent Music cables.

My current cd player is a 5-disc Yamaha cd changer.

Please recommend any older models that I can find used as well. Also I prefer it to play sacd and/or hdcd. Thanks.

Not quite $300 well almost double, but the Cambridge Audio 640c v2 CDP is about the best you can get for the price.

If you can find a 640c v1, it should be right at the $300 mark I would think and is very good in it's own right, probably the best at that price.
    Digital Audio makes me Happy.

I just got an offer for a Jolida JD100 for $580 shipped with an extra set of tubes. Its way outta of my range but is it considerably better than Cambridge Audio? Any thoughts guys?

How about a used Rotel RCD-971, there is one on Audiogon in your budget right now.

Ok so it looks like Im torn between a NAD CD 542 and Cambridge 640C. I can get them both for around $300-ish.

NAD looks ugly aesthetically but have heard its warmer sounding than Cambridge (which is bright). Is this true? I wish I could demo these but the Cambridge is discontinued.

I have an AH! player and it is very good. $580 sounds like a good deal. Spend a few extra bucks and go for it.

As good of a deal as this is, I dont like the idea of spending more and more to get the tubes replaced.

Try the new Oppo DV-981-HD super DVD player, plays SACD and virtually everything else CD. Optically this upconverting DVD player goes 1080P, and everything lower.
Farouja (Sp?) chip set means no jaggies, no noise. Complete audio setup control.
Well under your 300 limit. Perhaps one of the best out there IMHO for the price.

                        hi guys,

we have now been using our 989 for a few weeks on our 5060 plasma and we love it - far superior to anything we have owned before in terms of picture quality.

as we are using the 989 for cd listening also, we are now curious to know if we would benefit from having...

Lately, I have been deliberating over my two Classe’ CDP players (CDP-202 and CDP-300) and weather to keep one or the other or both. My recent foray into the hi-def video world has added much to this personal impasse. Paramount to my concerns revolves around which CDP I consider to be the most beneficial....

I ordered one of these in silver for my system, and it arrived today so I gave it a work out. I put in some regular CD's that I am used to listening to on my Denon DVD 1600, but none of them really impressed me with the Denon, I always thought there was something missing. Well that is no longer an...
