Musical Fidelity A5 or Nad M3? I'm looking for amp to play with B&W speakers (804's-805's or XT4). Any opinions? I seek an informative sound both for classical and jazz . I think the best option would be the Classé Delta series but they are really too expensive!

Currently using A308 pre/pwr, I would said Musical Fidelity is very good amp for Jazz and vocal, not really sure about classical because I find MF a bit too forward (I don't think they are bright) and dynamic. I don't think it match too well with the B&W metal tweeter, currently I am using MF with my Dynaudio Contour (very good match). I am driving my B&W 703 with Rotel rb1092 in my HT/Hifi setup and I find they match relatively well. Just my opinion.- Bottom

Thanks for your answers guys. I have listened to the Nad M3 with B&W 805 and 704 and it was good but seemed a little flat. I listened to MF A5 but with Sonus Faber speakers and liked it a lot, almost valve like sound (although not as euphonic but with better bass and sounstage). Unfortunately I cant hear it with B&W (different dealers). Forward amp for classical may not necessarily be a bad thing as classical music is usually smoother sounding than jazz (with all those strident metals) ...The McIntosh suggestion is very interesting because the dealer is the same here. I will certainly check it although I'm afraid McIntosh will be too expensive here in European Union...- Bottom

Arcam AVR300 for the BW804
I recently replaced my Denon AVR3300 with an Arcam AVR300 to power my Nautlitus 804 (pre S) and HTM2. It sounds much better than my Denon. Take a listen of the AVR 250 and 300. I think you'll enjoy it.
I'm looking to replace my Velodyne 8100x (forward facing 8") sub. Any recos?- Bottom

Velo DD10 or 12. I have also heard good things about the JL Audio 12/13 subs but never heard one myself.Originally posted by srusmantijoI recently replaced my Denon AVR3300 with an Arcam AVR300 to power my Nautlitus 804 (pre S) and HTM2. I second Jesse,
Classe or Mc Intosh especially for Jazz, and I would add Krell to that list too.
MF A5 is good ,but the above IMHO are better.
If money is a problem, then Rotel play very sweet with B&W speakers, and will sound great with Jazz too, like the 1095 with 1098 or the 1090.
I personally would dive into the classe category for Jazz with B&W speakers ,but that again is my personal opinion !
Good Luck and let us know what you have decided on?
Cheers.- Bottom

You do not list how you listen (stereo/HT), how big your room is etc etc so it makes suggestions a little hard to make. As noted above, I run the Arcam AVR 200 which is 70 x 5 on my 703's. When I listen in stereo mode I get 90 x 2 and another jolt of current to which you can hear as they are playing. This receiver produces a good amount of current compared to most other receivers but it does not cut its teeth on the 703's. When I converted to HT from stereo I had to start somewhere, giving up a Bryston BP20 pre and Classe Seventy amp. I have auditioned the Krell KAV 400xi which is a 200 x 2 integrated which is $2750. CAD. Options are endless as are our opinions.

by Danbry39Have to say that most of my music is Rock, but lately I've been buying and listening to a lot of jazz and classical, even bought my first four operas. I think a lot has to do with my system now. Pianos don't sound too metallic, violins don't sound too harsh, and voices are pure and natural. I guess...-

This article will describe the fruits of my efforts to build a moderate sized speaker which might be moderately above average in performance for a basic two-way system. I desired a speaker like this both for my own use in secondary systems, and to fill a need for some friends, who desired fairly full range response (i.e., “it’s gotta have good bass”). Also, though I have access to a good wood shop, many potential DIY enthusiasts may not, so I hoped to use a modified...-
